"My wife and I recently had a disappointing experience at the restaurant of The Gailes Hotel when we visited for breakfast, which compelled me to share our feedback. Although we have frequented this place for breakfast on numerous occasions before, this particular visit left much to be desired. Upon arrival, my party and I were promptly seated, but unfortunately, we were then seemingly forgotten about. What made this even more frustrating was the fact that the restaurant was practically empty at the time. We patiently waited for someone to take our order, but after a substantial 25 minutes passed, I had to flag down a staff member myself. Even when our breakfast finally arrived, the disappointment continued. Our drinks had been completely forgotten, and once again, I had to request them separately. For a restaurant of this caliber, and with a price tag of £29 for two breakfasts, I expected a more attentive and seamless service. The lack of attention to detail and the delay in service left me feeling underwhelmed and dissatisfied. While I have enjoyed positive experiences here in the past, more recent visits have been found wanting and this particular visit has undoubtedly tarnished my perception of the restaurant. I hope that The Gailes Hotel takes this feedback and makes improvements, as with service like this, my wife and I will find somewhere else."

Service was very slow despite the restaurant not appearing to be very busy. Food was mediocre and not cheap. Staff were pleasant enough.

My friend and I visited again for lunch. The surroundings are lovely as is the staff. We were greeted and shown to our usual table. The staff are very pleasant and attentive. Arryanna looked after us and made this another lovely lunch experience. The food as always when we’ve visited was tasty and good value for money. Looking forward to our next visit.

I’ve been here five times, and everything has remained consistent, just as great as my first visit. The staff is exceptional—quick, courteous, and incredibly efficient—and the menu is fantastic. My only minor complaint is that the staff tends to ask if everything is okay while you’re eating, which isn't a big deal. A tip: if you want to dine during busy hours, it’s a good idea to call ahead for availability.

Awful! Would try not to return. Been to 3 funerals there in the past 6 months. Sandwiches were like doorsteps with very little filling. Staff running about like headless chickens trying to serve tea coffee without knowing who has already been served and who still needs serving. Our table of 6 got half served and despite shouting out to staff, we were ignored and sat for an hour without tea or coffee. It was in the smaller room, so dread to imagine if they were serving in the larger room. Sorry, but couldn’t feel enthusiastic about eating anything. Ver carta

The spa and hotel room were nice and contemporary, and the staff were attentive and friendly. However, as someone who frequently stays in hotels, I found the food at both the spa and restaurant to be of quite low quality. In fact, I've had better meals at a Wetherspoons for a fraction of the price. Additionally, the wine I ordered had an unpleasant smell. The takeaway from my experience is that if you expect high-quality dining that matches the luxury spa experience, this might not be the right place for you. However, if you're looking for a modern facility with friendly staff near lovely golf courses, then it's worth a visit.

Lonmvely surroundings, starters were cold. Main course was mediocre, deep fried fish in bater was not crispy, pork was overcooked. I was happy to accept all of this but when I ordered a bottle of wine and it was plonked down on my table, I was applaud . I assumed it was serve yourself night, I had to open it and serve myself . Is this the service I should expect at oast? Never have I been thrown a bottle of wine and expected to pay for it, disgraceful, I thought I was in Faulty Towers! I complement you on your waitress staff who are totally superb. Its sad that the management and kitchen staff fall short of providing a good service.

The restaurant has a lovely and bright atmosphere with a well-organized layout. The menu offers a good variety, and the lunch specials are reasonably priced. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. We waited by the sign for our table as the staff chatted at the bar, and after ten minutes, we had to approach them ourselves to get seated. The menu is quite expensive, and the bread served with the prawn cocktail was stale. The buttermilk chicken accompanying the salad was tough and not very warm. We ordered drinks twice, and on both occasions, we had to inquire about their status. To make matters worse, it’s February, and the doors were wide open, making the restaurant uncomfortably cold... My husband and I went in for a meal today (19/8/23) with my birthday gift card and we were shocked to see a Saturday early evening being so quiet. We got a 2 course meal and both had the leek and potato soup which was like a child’s portion size and was liquidised down so much, although it tasted ok it was nothing like leek and potato! My husbands main was fish and chips and the chips were like the super cheap big bags of small oven chips that you get in the cheap isle of supermarkets! Completely tasteless, he said the fish was ok but the star of the show was my arrabbiata pasta which was so overcooked it was a joke! Like you would cook pasta for a baby food! The peppers and onions in the pa...

Upon our arrival, we attempted to charge our electric car at the onsite chargers, but we couldn’t get close enough due to the 100mm bump stops. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing and the service was extremely slow, despite the restaurant not being busy. The staff were not the most pleasant either. Both my husband and I ordered the Chicken, Haggis, and Broccoli with Peppercorn Sauce. The chicken was dry, the haggis was greasy and tough, and the broccoli was overcooked to the point of being rubbery and impossible to cut. The peppercorn sauce was thin and lacking in flavor. In fact, we both found our meals inedible. When we asked for the bill, we mentioned our concerns to the server, who...

"We were a party of 5, on a cold, very wet Saturday evening, coldest so far I would say! We drew up and saw a young family of 3 sitting with jackets on in the conservatory area, we were a bit concerned! We took a...seat at the back of the conservatory which proved to be a big mistake! There was a terrible draught coming from behind me, I did mention it and was told it was 27c at the middle of the room, but not where we were sitting!! I mentioned it a few times and sat with my shawl scarf on throughout! I pulled down the window blinds hoping that would help, nope!! We ordered our food, I asked about a vegetarian option for my husband, our waitress did say he could a veggie option on the curry and the tempura or risotto, which was helpful! I had to ask what was the soup of the day and also the pate!! I did feel that maybe in this day and age there should have been a small dedicated vegetarian area on the menu, but that’s just my opinion! 3 of our party had starters which were great, Cullen skink, scallops and langoustine tempura, Main courses arrived, 3 fish and chips, one lemon soul and one veggie tempura, all were excellent except for the veggie tempura which was large shards of onion and carrot in an albeit lovely batter, but not all vegetarians like huge chunks of vegetables! 4 of our party had a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, which was plentiful! Overall we had a pleasant meal, little or no atmosphere though, one of the younger waitresses (white shirt, black skirt) was friendly and more talkative, the waitress (dressed all in black)who served us was, we all felt a little disinterested and lacked any empathy with the guests! We asked for our bill, the youngest waitress came with the card machine and felt how cold it was only then did she check the windows to find there was one opened, hence the draught, which spoiled our visit because we were felling it cold!! We paid the bill and left a tip on the plate, no one came to say thank you for you custom, or have a nice evening, nothing!! All in all it was pretty inhospitable! Value you for money, it was good for the standard of the food!"
