"Ok so I’ve been going to Frankies since it opened 10 years ago, even had my 30th birthday there, always been amazing service, food the lot. However since their long standing manager Luke has left along with what seems to be the majority of the staff that worked alongside him the place is just not the same. I have been 4 times (out of sheer hope that it would improve each time) since the management and staff have changed. All 4 times I have had to ask staff to come and take drink orders, provide us with the food menus and clear our tables once we had eaten. I went today and for about 20 minutes staff stood talking and chatting away catching up on the weekends events whilst myself and a friend sat waiting with empty glasses and empty plates, I eventually gave in to my frustrations and asked them to clear the table. Not only that but my friends food came out nearly 15 minutes after mine! The place was dead so no excuse of being crazy busy, there wasn’t even any music on, just huge lack of any atmosphere which is a real shame as I have always had so much time for the place. It seems to be that the new much younger staff have a very real absence of any kind of management in place I think if they had that then it would help improve things a lot. That aside the food was lovely but the experience in general, again, was not a great one."

Lovely modern venue, extensive cocktail list and lovely quick service. We didn’t try the food but would definitely like to next time we visit

We came to Frankie’s for their first steak night and we were blown away! We both ordered the same steak dish, it was cooked perfectly, tender and all around a tasty meal. The steak came with a range of sides which went down well with both of us. There were two members of staff upstairs who kept us well attended to and made us feel very welcome. They seemed interested in our experience and it was lovely to see that they care.

The staff at the restaurant were extremely friendly and accommodating. Although there is a time limit for the car park behind the building, there is free street parking available right outside the lodge. I booked a one night stay at the lodge and was pleasantly surprised by the spacious and bright room. The food was delicious, although they only offer a set steak menu (with a vegetarian option) on Wednesdays. Overall, it was a delightful place to visit. Ver carta

My daughter and I went to Frankies last night for Steak night which is every Wednesday. We got two steaks and a bottle of wine for £30. The steaks were cooked exactly how we wanted them - medium to rare. They came with mashed potatoes, spinach, and a small jug of peppercorn sauce. The meal was absolutely delicious; the steak was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully on the plate. The chef did a fantastic job. The service from the staff in the bar was also excellent, with everyone serving us with a smile. We will definitely be returning.

My daughter and I booked a table for 'Taco Tuesday ' . We asked to move from where they had seated us as it was in the middle of the room and we prefer to be at the back or side. Not a problem , all very easily sorted. As it was a Tuesday it wasnt that busy , we ordered our food , I had the Taco 's that were amazing- loved them. My daughter had the steak and philly baguette which was also delicious and loads of it. We were served drinks at our table as I have a disability and find it hard to get to the bar. We were served by Devon and Kensi who were lovely. Definitely recommend x

Omg we went here last night to celebrate my daughters new job had prosecco and then the most beautifully cooked rump steak with peppercorn sauce. My husband likes his steak blue and that is exactly how it came. My daughter Portia and I asked for medium rare perfection on a plate. The only suggestion would be a choice of extras as both my daughter and husband dislike tomatoes which it was served with may be a choice of tomatoes or mushrooms? The chef was called Cameron Davies. Service was fabulous , staff are obviously very well trained a visit is a must!! We will be back going to try the afternoon tea next : Ver carta

I spontaneously decided to dine at Frankies this evening and was delighted by the diverse menu. I decided to try the steak rainbow salad and was blown away by how perfect it was. The steak was tender and cooked to perfection, and the portion size was very generous. I also ordered the Mac n cheese, which was the best I've ever had. I highly recommend it. I even asked for the chef's name, Cam, so that I could let him know how much I enjoyed the meal. Kenzie, the young lady working at the bar, was incredibly polite and attentive despite being very busy. She made sure that everyone was taken care of and couldn't do enough for us.

my friends and I visited Frankies last week after multiple recommendations, however we felt let down. considering the restaurant was empty, besides us, the service was quite slow. the cocktails were lovely, although the same cannot be said for the food. the burgers were bland and my friends fish tacos were stone cold. the mexican potatoes as advertised were extremely disappointing, as they were about as mexican as a cup of tea! as if this wasn't disappointing enough, a waiter took my friends plate before the rest of us had finished, which is extremely unprofessional. on a positive, the girl behind the bar was lovely and very apologetic.

"Having successfully deposited our eldest in her new Uni digs and having enjoyed an evenings kip in an adjoining Manchester hotel we were in two minds where to breakfast. MrsC’s growing angst over the likely state of our home after allowing our youngest free rein for a garden party proved persuasive so we decided on an early exit an victuals en route. A scan of Happy Cow and Google combined allied to our southbound travel threw up Wild and Wild as a convenient stop off before we rejoined the M6. Pleased to see that it opened at 10;00am on a Sunday whilst registering our likely arrival at 10:15 we added the required SatNav waypoint and trained our behemoth on its new path. There was convenient free parking on the Sunday and we ambled on the pedestrianised section to Wild and Wild; sitting slightly incongruously next to a Costa. The place is light and well laid out and an enticing array of cakes and pastries greets you as you enter. The usual instructive board informed us “to please wait to be seated” which we did. The young lady who appeared to be both front of house, barista and server said she would be with us after serving her present customer; which was fine but, in truth, simply having the menus on the tables and allowing you to sit yourself at empty unreserved tables would seemed to have been the least intrusive and effective means of managing the flow? Anyway we were handed drinks/food menus and then informed that we could, in effect, do exactly that and seat ourselves. The breakfast/brunch menu was concise but convincing and for speed and efficiency MrsC and I settled on two “full English”, vegan of course, and two oat milk lattes. Queued again and gave the order and paid there and then. Though we haven’t been out too much recently the coffee prices seemed about right but the breakfast seemed a tad high. Understanding how inflation is hitting that might just be an impression but if we had stayed in Manchester and returned to the Lounge a similar menu would have been 30% less. Then it started going awry. The wait for the coffee seemed long; the wait for the food almost interminable (around 40-45 mins in truth) Halfway through that wait another server had magicked into operation and it switched from queuing to order to table service. She was professional enough to highlight to new incoming customers that drinks would be about 10 mins/food 30. Something not considered worthy of note to us earlier arrivals. The breakfast was ok. The vegan sausages appeared homemade with rice wrapper “skins” but they were woefully dry and overcooked. The whole vine of oven roasted cherry tomatoes were good as was the star of the show the Smokey “baked beans”. The toast was good quality bread but cut too thin to successfully soak up both beans and the sweet tomatoes. The other components of mixed greens and mushrooms and tofu scramble were under seasoned and a little bland. The potato rosti was a little dense but ok. Sadly the food was underwhelming and more so due to the long wait; ill fitting the vibe and the surroundings especially as the place wasn’t heaving at any time. Always feel awkward knocking eateries in these uncertain times but, in this case, expectations raised by the feel of the place allied to the prices charged, we’re not met by the quality of the food. Perhaps it’s better suited to an afternoon cake and a drink session? Disappointed."

"Wow!!! It has been many years since my last meal at the Brownlow. My late wife Dee and I used to dine here regularly. After her passing, I spent a lot of time working in Sub-Equatorial Africa, providing water to remote areas. Now that I am back in Congleton, some of my neighbors decided to take me out for a birthday lunch, and to my surprise, they chose the Brownlow. I was a bit apprehensive, as the restaurant held so many wonderful memories for me. However, from the moment I walked in, any doubts I had were quickly dispelled. The warm greeting and smile at the reception desk set the tone for the rest of our dining experience. We were promptly seated with menus in hand, and our pre-meal drinks (a perfectly chilled Pinot) arrived with efficiency. The professionalism displayed in serving our meals was commendable and something that is often lacking in other restaurants. The presentation of our dishes was impeccable, and the quality of the food was evident in the clean plates at the end of our meal. I have always believed that people eat with their eyes first, and even those who prioritize presentation would be pleased with the artistry on display here. I will have no problem recommending the Brownlow to my family and friends in the future. The whole team's friendly and welcoming demeanor made for a pleasant dining experience. Special thanks to Simon, the chef, for a job well done - you definitely deserve a raise! I am already looking forward to my next visit. Thank you for a memorable meal. Norman A Dean."
