Franklins - Carta

Stopped for coffee and brunch on a busy Saturday morning. Service was poor, coffee was weak, food was cold. What more can I say but being busy is no excuse.

We visited in the morning g for breakfast after coding the day before for drinks. Lovely breakfast and lovely staff. Highly recommended. From the ladies in the matching jumpers!

This restaurant has a food hygiene rating of 2, which is displayed for all customers to see. This is not a good rating at all. It is quite shocking and suggests that the kitchen is not very clean. A rating of 2 out of 5 is definitely cause for concern. Ver carta

We sat outside at a very nice table, with our dog (although we think dogs are allowed inside too). The service was fast and very friendly with the drinks and food coming quickly (surprisingly so because we added stuff to our order after it had gone, but all came quickly). Superb coffee and mint tea, and lots of it. Very, very friendly server. A wonderful location on the main square of Axmouth quite a lot going on and plenty to see. Excellent all round!

I haven't been to this restaurant in a while due to a disappointing breakfast experience, and unfortunately, lunch was no better. It took 50 minutes from the time we sat down to actually receive our food, which was just a sandwich and a panini. The service was incredibly slow, to the point where we almost considered leaving. When the panini finally arrived, it was a squished piece of crunchy French bread, not what we expected. When we asked about it, the response was a shrug and a dismissive "that's how we serve paninis." It was disappointing.

Arrived at the restaurant about 2 p.m. so after the busy period. Only ordered drink and paninis. .Not that difficult. Drinks came fairly quickly but we waited a long time for the food. Appeared to be plenty of waiting staff but as some people who had arrived after us received their food before us, felt that the order had been forgotten! On querying the delay we were told that it would not be long! Arrived after another 10 mins or so (45 mins in all). Informed when paying bill that there was only one chef ! Busy summer, so they should hire more staff. Not impressed, so probably won't visit again. Ver carta

My partner and I visited this restaurant after traveling to Devon for a short holiday. We were in need of a coffee and some breakfast, and this place exceeded our expectations. The full English breakfast was delightful - just the right portion size, reasonably priced, and served promptly. The coffee was also excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed with a smile on their faces. They were happy to accommodate a substitution on the breakfast, which I really appreciated. I would highly recommend this place and we will definitely be returning when we are in Exmouth again.

Tuesday at 12 noon. We waited 10 mins before being asked what drinks we wanted. They came fairly quickly. The waitress (very good and friendly) then took our food requests (4 x simple sandwiches etc). After waiting 35 mins we asked when the food would be coming. We were bluntly told that the menu says that it could be 30 mins (small print that nobody reads when you simply want food). Came after another 15 mins i.e. 45 mins wait for sandwiches. Very little food coming out at any time and others were complaining as well as us. Conclusion was that food was actually very good, service was to say the least rubbish. On the back of toilet door was an advert for a full time chef !! NOT OUR PROBLEM I...

Absolutely awful breakfast paired with extremely poor customer service .. we are local and took my daughter and her family for a birthday treat !! After waiting for 45 minutes .. eggs Benedict came out cold , tasteless and watery eggs .. my husbands “Ozzie “ breakfast that looked the children could have made was disgusting and he didn’t eat it .. A free complaint straight away that it was all cold the owner did offer to redo but we could not wait another 45 minutes as the family were off to Cornwall .
