"My sister and I came in here one week ago on Thursday for lunch! I m aware about the pressure and the difficult that waiters and chefs and all the kitchen staff live during the shift. There are times, expectations and different requests and standards to satisfy. That's why I m always nice and polite with who is going to serve my meal. Is a plus that my sister is a chef too, working in Germany since 7 years now.We politely ordered a typical German sausage/wurst.. asking if was possible to swap the potatoes with some fries. Thanks to my sister and her fluent German we've been able to "deal" with our waiter Mr. Mrkaic who shout in our face and capturing the attention of all the people around, saying that he couldn't be bothered with this. This was the menù Apparently The kitchen was on the floor 254738.. he couldn't be able to get in there, do the stairs and ask for it. If we don't want something we leave it and we order something else separately. He had no time to waste. Now.. We ve just made a question. No mentioning how blessed we are in 2017 with all this technology.. we both agree that "No, sorry" was enough. The fact that Mrkaic could be my father , doesn't allow him to shout in my face being totally unrespectful in front of so many people. The fact that there wasn't any manager around caring about the situation, and that this restaurant has a really good position, really close to the Cologne Cathedral and for sure has no prob to be reached by a lot of tourist.. neither! We were about to leave suddenly. Not even waiting for the food. Time that I ve tried to catch someone and ask the bills, one of our plates came out. We're really different from Mr. Mrkaic. So because the food was already out the kitchen and we respect the work of other people, we had our lunch. Feeling uncomfortable and leaving the place as soon as possible. NEVER AGAIN ."

After visiting the Dom we went here for lunch. The food was alright, and it had good service. Overall it wasn't awful, but not the best I've eaten in Germany.

We had a delightful meal here of schnitzel and of mushroom ravioli with dumplings. Huge portions of food for the price. Good beer and local wines too. A winner all round

Traditional Brauhaus Sitting outside and enjoying delicious German food We had 'Brotzeit platter' with ten kind of delicatessen Main course we shared Eisbein and Haxe. One is boiled the other one grilled/roasted Amazing taste and too large portions We got the leftovers packed :-)

We chose to sit outside and enjoy the view by the cathedral/Dom square.....the waiter kept bringing endless glases of Kolsch beer (delicious, light draught, served cold in smaller glasses, cold brewing process, true Kolsch beer served only in Cologne!!) and we paired that with delicious bratwurst which came with choice of sides - the saurkraut and fried potatoes were a good choice.

Another bierhaus in the area around the Dom that should be on your list of places to go. We met a young couple that asked us to share their table with them. They had been to the US and noticed our accents. We had an enjoyable time drinking Kolsch, eating bratwurst (best place so far), and telling stories. Service was timely, quite necessary for those 0.2 l beers. A great place for food and beverage, so we went back one more time. Thanks Inka!

Definitely worth visiting for a meal while in Cologne. The place is enormous - be warned! We got so stressed because we couldn't decide where to sit haha. Ended up in the basement which was cool but rowdy. The best part is obviously the beer - order the Kölsch and waiters will just bring you new ones until you tell them to stop. Food was fine. We ordered the boiled pork knuckle and brauhauswurst, both of which were good, but not amazing. Our waiter was friendly and attentive even though they were very busy.

Everytime we go to Cologne, we have to go here to eat good German food, drink früh beer and say hello to some of the waiters there who became friends over the years. The location is near the main train station, the Dom and the shopping area. Though a bit crowded during lunch and dinner time, still you can enjoy feasting the German sausages, pork knuckles, sauerkraut and the apple strudel with endless serving of beer unless you say stop to the waiter. Lots of tourists go here for an authentic German treat. If you are planning to visit Cologne anytime soon, make sure to include this restaurant in your itinerary.

Stopped here for an early dinner on a Saturday. It was very busy as to be expected this day. Decent weather meant for a perfect outdoor beer garden. Lucky us, someone had just left their table outside so we grabbed it! I have no negative comments about this place. We had a great waiter, good German food and the cold beer just kept coming our way! We would re-visit this place if we return to Cologne! When reading the negative comments others have written about service, keep in mind you are in Europe. Customer service lacks a bit here and it does suck at times. Our visit here was actually great though. By far the friendliest waiter we had in Cologne over our three days. Wish I had taken his na...

We went there after reading good reviews about the place and we found a terrible treatment towards foreigners. We sited at a table after a few minutes of not knowing what to do and being growled to move to the end of the restaurant because we were standing in the middle, the waiter came after 5-10mins, asked how many beers we wanted and before being able to ask for the menu as well he just went away. When he came back with the beers and we finally were able to ask for the menus, it took him another 10mins just to take them from a close table and handle them to us. After all, the gulash and the speciality sausage that we ordered were good, but the service was unpleasant, like if they didn't w...
