"A warm welcome awaits you at The Pantry which is vital island hub throughout the year, especially in the darker winter months. The menu is great and offers local produce whenever possible including oysters, smoked salmon and to die for Colonsay honey ice cream! Do bear in mind that running a catering business on an island is not easy, with supply chains often disrupted by weather and ferry schedules. Gavin and his team deserve medals for juggling everything with a smile. Don't leave without picking up some Colonsay souvenirs from inside the cafe. You can't go wrong with a hat, a hoody and a jar of the best honey in the U.K."

"My husband I have had several lunches dinners here. There is outdoor seating for warm, sunny days a lovely restaurant with huge windows looking towards the sea. The food is great. We’ve tried the soups, baked potatoes, sandwiches baking at lunch. At dinner we’ve had the fish chips, sea bream, trout, scallops, the burger, the chicken dish the vegetarian pasta. Every meal has been excellent- and the local honey ice cream is homemade a real treat. The staff are all locals the owner Gavin is lovely. The homemade empire biscuits are the best I’ve ever had! This seems to be the heart of the island, it’s where you find good food at decent prices the locals seems to hang out there too. It’s brilliant to support a local family business when travelling to an island. Would 100% recommend."

"During our three-night stay at the hotel, we dined there on two evenings, which was sufficient as we had already tried our favorite dishes from the menu and wanted to avoid burgers and fries. We were a bit disappointed with the lack of seafood options, but the meals we did have were tasty and reasonably priced. On the first day, we had a vegetable tagine and fish and chips, and on the second day, we enjoyed salmon pate and a cod goujons sandwich for lunch. For our final evening, we savored a cod cassoulet, pork loin, a delightful rhubarb crumble with ice cream, and a chocolate bread and butter pudding. Drinks were reasonably priced at £6.50 for a Colonsay IPA and £7.50 for a local G&T. The service was friendly, and the dining room was spacious and bright with lovely views of the garden overlooking the sea. However, the uncomfortable hard chairs and lack of background music made for a quiet atmosphere where it was easy to overhear others' conversations. The bar lounges, on the other hand, were cozy and welcoming, with comfortable sofas and fires burning."

"What a lovely group of people that run and work in this place. We visited in May on a very busy day, right at the end of service. When we asked if they had any vegan soup or cakes left, they apologised that they had ran out with it being such a busy day. Thinking nothing of it, we left and didn't get a chance to try again until our final day on Colonsay. When we visited again for a walk before our ferry to Oban, we bumped into the manager there who told us that she had hoped that we would have came back earlier as she had baked a vegan cake specially for us. This was such a kind gesture, we were blown away. She was finishing for the day but insisted that we speak to the staff once we had finished our walk and that they would box some up for us to take away. We did that, but unfortunately the very helpful man couldn't find where it had been stored. Not a problem as the thought behind it was the main thing. However, next thing we knew as we were waiting in the queue for our delayed ferry, he had actually driven down to the terminal to give us our cake. It was delicious! Service doesn't get much more generous or friendly than this. We will not forget it, and it will be our first port of call when we return next year. Thank you so much!"
