"I and two companions had lunch here for the first time. really nice atmosphere and beautifully decorated. we were quickly served by the very friendly, polite waitress. they were very helpful when we made our decisions and were ahead of us that a few things were not available on the menu, because supply problems, but offered us alternatives with which we were satisfied. when the food came, we were thrilled! it was absolutely delicious! the entire menu is very imaginatiw with some unusual aromes. I had scallops with black pudding bonbon, slowly boiled pork belly in pine and penderyn glaze and satay potatas Bravas....all mouthful was delicious. my companions were also very impressed. only a small nniggle, in which a few of the plates were cold, so food was quite fast cooled, but honestly, the quality of the entire experience was so good that this did not really affect the pleasure. would recommend this place very and we will certainly be asap again!"

"Visited 3 weeks ago and this was our first time here even though we spend most of our summers in llanrug. Excellent 2 course Sunday lunch. All home cooked and absolutely delicious. Our host was very welcoming and she wanted to ensure everyone enjoyed their visit. A super pub and we are very lucky to have you in the village. "This is a cozy place for a drink on a cold winter's day, but I wouldn't eat here again. I had their weekend lunchtime meal deal which is pretentiously overpriced for plain or poor quality food. The mains were plain, not worth a return visit for, but at least the portion sizes were good. However, it's the quality of the starter and dessert that really let the meal down. I've had carrot coriander in quite a few different places by now, but never had one with a flavour this strange and jarring. It was inedible and only ate the roll. The waitress who collected our plates must have noticed the bowl full of soup left behind, but said nor asked nothing about it. My impression is that is must have not been the first time she's seen this and didn't want to get into why it was left like that. I don't blame her. Their leek potato was also really bland and flavourless, and not an advisable alternative. The quality was so poor that I assume they must buy in really cheap tinned soup from a catering supplier. Come on people! Making good quality, homemade soup is really not difficult! The brownie I had for dessert....seemed to have been made by someone who doesn't really understand what a brownie is. The joy of brownies are that they are richer and squishier than cake. However, the brownie I had was risen quite a bit, indicating too much time in the over maybe or two much raising agents, was much closer to dense cake. There wasn't anything soft or moist about it. It wasn't good in flavour either pretty bland really. This is something you find when a producer is trying to lower production cost as much as possible they cut back on the cocoa powder as it's more expensive than flour, or they use the cheapest stuff possible which gives food a chocolate custard type of flavour. Also why does this place have a taxidermied tarantula in a box on the wall?? So strange!! Of all the things you might want people to see when they're eating, I'd say that isn't one of them! I wondered if it had been left behind as a Halloween decoration or something."

"I 'm a lover of hot curries..and I mean really,really hot curries: A Vindaloo is mild to my palate,so I thought I 'd go one step up and order a Chicken Phall from City Spice. I 'm glad to say it didn 't disappoint. The Chicken was perfectly cooked;fibrous,generous,great texture and not at all like that rubbery,watery injected stuff. (as is customary in so many Indian restaurants these days).The sauce was to die for and had the perfect pureed consistency...cooked and roasted to perfection...Thank you Chef,you have a great palate.. The meal had the taste of a true 'BIR ' (British Indian Restaurant) in the same way I remember it from the 80 's, when we used to stagger home drunk and stop at the nearest Indian restaurant on the way home. The portions are very generous too.Don 't hesitate to order from City Spice. I find that the true benchmark for any Indian restaurant/takeaway is how well they cook their hot curries...If the really hot curries are good the rest of the menu will be outstanding. I 'll definitely be a regular customer here!"
