"Can’t praise the Garrison cafe highly enough. I was in with my two boys and they were very busy. Our food was taking a while to come out but I was in no hurry. The manager came came out and apologised and brought me a fresh hot coffee moments before our food arrived. The soup and rolls and sausage well lovely. Proper good old fashioned homemade soup. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Millport. Well worth a visit and prices are reasonable. Thank you"

A lovely cafe in the old Garrison, right across from the waterfront. They have good choice, the food was tasty, and the staff were really friendly.

Clean, well managed, friendly staff and great food and coffee, Lentil soup was particularly excellent and they’re open from 10 to 4 most days. It’s all housed in a very fine, interesting building as well.

We have been coming to the Garrison for years in and out of season. It never fails to impress with good quality food freshly cooked. But what is really impressive is the staff and management. Cheerful, efficient and proactive even on their busiest days Ver carta

I have visited Cumbrae 4 times over the last 6 years and each time I have called in for tea and cake or snack/lunch. Each time I have found the staff to be very friendly, the whole place spotless, the food tasty and teapots that hold a decent quantity.

It's a very cute cafe at Millport and serves tasty panini toasties burgers. The loaded nachos was also pretty good and they were kind e ough to make a vegetarian version for us. The coffee and hot chocolate were a saviour on a rainy cold day in May. We enjoyed our meal at the cafe. The staff was friendly too. Ver carta

A special hidden place can be found in Millport.Cambrai island is ten minutes on ferry and a further five on bus gets you to Millport.Behind the Garrison Museum is this delightful cafe. All manner of light snacks and meals are offered at decent prices.Outside areas are set with spaced out tables in a court yard.A good place to rest on such a quiet island resort.

We were running an event in Millport for 110 people and looking for a large sandwich order for packed lunches. Ross was very pleasant and flexible to deal with. When the sandwiches arrived, ahead of time, we were delighted with the quality and presentation, lovely wee vegeware containers and tasty fillings. Our guests were all very happy. Highly recommended for events catering.

"We were a party of 5, on a cold, very wet Saturday evening, coldest so far I would say! We drew up and saw a young family of 3 sitting with jackets on in the conservatory area, we were a bit concerned! We took a...seat at the back of the conservatory which proved to be a big mistake! There was a terrible draught coming from behind me, I did mention it and was told it was 27c at the middle of the room, but not where we were sitting!! I mentioned it a few times and sat with my shawl scarf on throughout! I pulled down the window blinds hoping that would help, nope!! We ordered our food, I asked about a vegetarian option for my husband, our waitress did say he could a veggie option on the curry and the tempura or risotto, which was helpful! I had to ask what was the soup of the day and also the pate!! I did feel that maybe in this day and age there should have been a small dedicated vegetarian area on the menu, but that’s just my opinion! 3 of our party had starters which were great, Cullen skink, scallops and langoustine tempura, Main courses arrived, 3 fish and chips, one lemon soul and one veggie tempura, all were excellent except for the veggie tempura which was large shards of onion and carrot in an albeit lovely batter, but not all vegetarians like huge chunks of vegetables! 4 of our party had a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, which was plentiful! Overall we had a pleasant meal, little or no atmosphere though, one of the younger waitresses (white shirt, black skirt) was friendly and more talkative, the waitress (dressed all in black)who served us was, we all felt a little disinterested and lacked any empathy with the guests! We asked for our bill, the youngest waitress came with the card machine and felt how cold it was only then did she check the windows to find there was one opened, hence the draught, which spoiled our visit because we were felling it cold!! We paid the bill and left a tip on the plate, no one came to say thank you for you custom, or have a nice evening, nothing!! All in all it was pretty inhospitable! Value you for money, it was good for the standard of the food!"
