"On a short, evening trip to Solingen we decided to stay for dinner and selected the Gasthaus Weegerhof as our venue. We rang a couple of hours earlier to book a table for 4 . On arrival, shortly after 8 in the evening it was clear that the booking wouldn 't necessarily have been needed. The place was quiet and we had the full attention of the friendly, chatty waiter. The menu was quite an extensive one based on German and Croatian cuisine. It was hard to make a final choice. I personally had a potato cream soup with chanterelles (pfifferlingen as a starter followed by a very tasty veal liver presented in the Berliner art with mashed potatoes and cooked apple wedges with roasted onions on top. My first choice of a roasted pigs knuckle (Schweinshaxe unfortunately wasn 't available that evening. No problem. All of us enjoyed our various main courses and we particularly appreciated the willingness to adapt some of the items on the menu to fit our preferences. For dessert we shared nicely presented apple strudel and pancakes (Palatschinken with ice cream. And as a special treat we were gifted little glasses of Croatian cherry liquor, Visnjevaca which was delicious. The whole experience was excellent. We can thoroughly recommend this place and I 'm sure that we 'll be back when we come this way again."
