Gazette Putney - Carta

Blown away last night, booked by a friend, friendly, helpful staff and yummy food, portion sizes just right. Will return.

Excellent food and service. Simon was fantastic waiter and made me a perfect steak tartare- delicious and highly recommended

Every dish we had was delicious and the portion sizes were just right. I especially like the onion soup which I have now had three times in a row. LA TARTE FINE is delicious. Even the main courses are special. This time I had the chicken, the third different main course i have tried, and i enjoyed each one. Ver carta

Food mediocre. Skate was supposed to come with ‘straw’ potatoes but they forgot to bring them. Table next to us were served standard chips with theirs which did not resemble straw. Ice cream was supposed to come with an expression poured over but did not. When we questioned this they just insisted it had been.

A revelation! If gloomy Putney can reproduce a sunny French bistro, this is it. A wide ranging but not pretentious menu, reasonably priced; well cooked dishes; cheerful and knowledgeable service. The tables are rather too close together but what can you expect in London? and the service could have been a mite swifter. But otherwise full marks.

The restaurant setting is nice and the staff were great. However the food is sub par and no where near worth the price. Onion soup was overly sweet and lacked any depth of flavour, steak was well done after asking for it to be rare, ordered the meringue to finish and was served a bowl of cream and lemon sorbet, maybe 1 or 2 very small pieces of meringue. Really disappointing, would recommend steering clear. Ver carta

Loved the idea of trying Full French- food was tasty and filling, atmosphere was pleasant. The bacon and omelette were very tasty, as were the potatoes and mushrooms. Brie and baguette slightly disappointing. Frustratingly, our bill had service charge added automatically which I explained to the waiter is presumptive and not a culture we encourage (I have no intention of paying a fiver for someone to bring the plate to me). Overall nice food though automatic service charge disappointing.

I have been visiting Gazette in Putney to meet friends for several years as it was always good value and they offered a varied special lunch menu. However yesterday the food, presentation and ambiance had changed. The menus were stained and that day’s menu was badly hand written and one of the main courses was not available even though it was just 1 o’clock. When the bill for two disappointing courses arrived we found it was no longer good value.There are many restaurants in Putney and I fear Gazette will not survive unless they up their game , Ver carta
