"We visit Gemmell's every fortnight. last Tuesday three of us had Steak pie which was stated on the menu! In fact when eating it it was mainly sausage with a couple of pieces of steak! If we had known this we would not have ordered the pie.My friend had a chicken burger. The burger was very tiny probably half a breast of chicken! WE have stopped having the fish because it is so thin that when served its very dry! Come on Chef get your act together as we do pay a fair price for your food.Another complaint is when are the staff going to clear the table when we have finished eating!!!"

Lovely restaurant and very busy, so maybe I'm alone thinking their coffee was expensive . Great selection of homebaking.

3 sisters and wee Mammy stopped in here lunch as we were in the area. How fortunate for us. Food was lovely and so was the service.

Best baked potato with prawns I’ve ever had. Usually they can be quite rich but this was just delicious. Also the most amazing blueberry and whites chocolate scones!

Called in for lunch. The coffee shop is very clean and pleasant with plenty of seating. There are plenty of choices on the menu at very reasonable prices. Would recommend a visit.

Very nice restaurant, although the lunch selection available when we visited was very restricted. The macaroni was good, and the coffee and strawberry tarts made it a good experience .

Gemmels is a garden centre with a large selection of goods, plus an area that sells books, has a childrens play area as well as a coffee shop shop which sells a wide range of scones, cakes and other goodies, as well as soft drinks.Well worth a visit as the windows also look out over the open countryside.

We go to the garden centre, just to go to the cafe and get a toastie and homemade soup, then we buy one of the delicious homemade cakes to take home, the banoffee pie, caramel 'lemon ' meringue, custard cream, scones oh my word, I could just go on. Lovely views from the side restaurant, seating area in kitchen, till area large, and spacious

Went to Gemmell's to buy plants in their Garden Centre, but being time for lunch decided to visit their Coffee Shop/Restaurant. Very pleasant helpful staff, nice choice of lunchtime dishes, from fresh sandwiches to hot, freshly prepared meals. Muffin with ham pineapple for me, Mac cheese for my wife. Both very tasty. Nice coffee cake to follow. All good. Will certainly return.

"My husband and I bought an itison voucher for brunch for £29 for The Sorn Inn. When we arrived at 12 we were the only ones in the restaurant. I ordered the eggs benedict with the sauce on the side and my husband ordered the full scottish breakfast. We had to wait a while, I'm unsure how long exactly but we weren't too bothered as we thought our food was all being made fresh. When it arrived, my husband's food look really nice. No complaints there. My eggs benedict consisted of 2 cold toasted slices of bloomer bread. One with 1 slice of fried bacon on it and the other with 1 poached egg. The hollandaise sauce was in fact mayonnaise. I called the waitress over and told her this wasn't what I ordered. I ordered eggs benedict which was stated on the menu as a toasted muffin, ham and poached eggs with a hollandaise sauce. She was lovely. She apologised and said she would take it back to the kitchen. After she done this she returned and said that there was no muffins left and would I like to order something else. By this point my husband was halfway through his breakfast. Why was eggs benedict even on the menu if there were no muffins?? I told the waitress I would have the full scottish breakfast then. By this time there was 2 other tables filled and the eggs benedictwas still being sold. Our waitress brought me over another coffee while I waited on my breakfast. It wasn't quick. It was alright when it arrived. But not great. The toast was still cold and there wasn't any butter. Zoe our waitress was wonderful. Whatever the owners are paying her, just isn't enough. She was apologetic, attentive and calm under pressure. Why didn't the chef tell Zoe to take the eggs benedict off the menu as it was still being sold when we were leaving. What kind of chef thinks cold toast, bacon and mayo is eggs benedict? We have been to the Sorn Inn on numerous times before and the food has been outstanding. Such a shame as we do like to eat out and support local and smaller restaurants but we won't be hurrying back."
