"Well we booked a table online for 7-15pm my husband is having cancer treatment and it was our first night out in a few months just to eat a nice meal rather than cooking something at home for a treat as he was feeling quite well… we arrived and the young girl couldn’t find the booking, I showed her on my phone she said it’s ok we have a table anyway so showed to a table in the conservatory which was fine! We ordered a couple of non alcoholic drinks and had to call someone over to order our meals, my husband ordered the lamb shank and I ordered the fish, we waited and half an hour passed to then be told by the manager that they had no lamb shanks left! Another table came in after us and we then saw lamb shanks being brought out! We asked about this and the manager said something or other, but couldn’t offer a full explanation! My husband ordered the fish! We waited… and another half an hour passed and he assured us it was on its way! He offered us a drink on the house! Eventually the meals arrived along with the table next to us who had been waiting over an hour and half! The food was passable at best, when we got the bill they had put down the lamb shank which my husband hadn’t had, I questioned them and they took it off and charged for the fish! I explained to the manager our situation and told him what should have been a really relaxing first evening out turned into a stressful event! We definitely weren’t the only couple/ family being let down this evening in the restaurant! We will never be going again! Such a disappointment!"

The headline for this occasion should be "Amazing food, but rushed service." We visited on Mother's Day and had pre-booked a table for three.

The atmosphere at Heart of the Ram is pleasant, but it feels more like a restaurant than a pub. I may have overlooked some aspects of its pub vibe.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. While Ramsbottom may not be the first destination on everyone's list for a day out, it is definitely worth the visit for many reasons.

I agree with the last review. Absolutely shouldn't have taken money for Christmas gift vouchers. I believe the restaurant went up for sale shortly after so not looking hopeful for spending them. Ver carta

This restaurant took hard earned money when purchasing a gift voucher from them for a Christmas gift without mentioning that the restaurant would be closing at the end of January. What a waste of money and now a useless present. Shame on you.

Ordered the beef on the Sunday roast and couldn't have been more disappointed, the quality of the joint was cheap, every mouthful had gristle, it was overcooked and unpleasant. No excuse for poor quality food in a restaurant that charges an above average price. Not a good experience.

What a fantastic meal we had! We’ve been couple of days ago and once again Hearth didn’t disappoint. We’ve had couple of Rosts that were tasty, and nicely presented with a lovely gravy seasoned just to my liking. Combine that with a lovely bottle of wine, and fantastic service by a french maitre’d and his team, and that’s always a winner. We’ll be back most definitely. Thank you for having us. Ver carta

My experience at this restaurant last night for a special evening was disappointing. The menu online did not match the menu we were given, and the non-meat options seemed lazy. The bread selection with a spoonful of hummus and oil was strange and lacking in variety. The chips were the highlight of the meal, while the beer battered haddock was greasy. The service was poor, with unwelcoming staff and slow plate clearing. The conservatory was noisy in the rain, and we had to wait a long time for the bill and card machine. Overall, the evening was flat and I believe the restaurant could learn from others in Ramsbottom.

Had to start with a classic: The Sunday Roast. With their offering winning awards from Michelin Bib Gourmand, The Good Food Guide and Eat Drink Sleep, @hearthoftheram seemed like a good place to start. So what did they have for Tiny Tums? First, I like that the children's menu offers a three course option showing soup of the day and crudités as starters. Mains offer a nice range catering for fussy eaters and exploring taste buds. Almost always with a vegetable (albeit often peas-but who can blame them for offering a popular choice? Deserts offering a fair 3 choices. In terms of veggie eating we only have one main so that could be improved upon. We opted for the Sunday Roast with chicken whic...

"Well, it 's been a while since I 've reviewed a place but this little gem has certainly reawakened my vigour for it. Visited this evening as a kind of belated birthday celebration with my husband and son and very glad we did indeed. We happened upon this place a few weeks back (passing by and grabbing a cocktail after the days plans fell through and instantly took to the place and it 's wonderful staff and from the off had intentions to visit again an so finally did tonight), within seconds of seating ourself at the bar we were remembered by the owners, which to me shows great calibre on the customer service front. As someone with an exceptionally sweet tooth when it comes to alcohol it was our lucky day to find they had cocktails on 2for£10 and hell can the owner Jo mix like a minx (even doing us an off menu blend to account for tastes). The husband not being a big drinker happily sat at the bar chatting with staff and customers nursing his Peroni whilst me and my son dived headlong into the extensive classical and modern mixed cocktail list. Having been lured into great expectations (previously sampling delicious tasters) from Jo 's lovely husband Dave on our first brief visit we were definitely eagerly placed to dive into dinner tonight. Our lovely waitress Sian, stood patiently while we chopped and changed idea 's and orders, laughed with us, checked regularly everything was to our tastes as did the other young waitress that dropped drinks over to us. Both girls portraying the perfect mix of friendly and professional, a refreshing change to be served by people that clearly enjoy their working environment. And on to the food... we started with olives (and boy was it a substantial portion in comparison with some establishments weak efforts), hubby was first in there, impressed with the quality of marinade (too many places these days forget the little efforts like this thinking folk can 't differentiate something tipped out of a supermarket packet). After much debate (I had my eye on far too many dishes) choices were made, Hubby had the Filo Kefta, which had a light pastry, adequate spice and smoothly complimentary dip, for main he went with the day 's Special of Lamb with fondant potato, heritage carrots and a divinely velvety Jus which he thoroughly enjoyed (and he 's hard to please, being well versed himself and making a point of getting the lovely Chef Darren a glass of wine in appreciation). The lad had a Sirloin steak burger cooked medium rare and is now demanding we visit again soon. lol I went with the Gravlax to start, instantly aware of the clean flavour from its curing cutting through (I even brought a titbit home for my kitty to enjoy), as for main, I 'd initially had my mind on fish but upon discovering the owner Jo was also a blue steak lover I had to try one there and wow they really take care in choosing their suppliers because that was an A grade cut of meat, even my son (who prefers medium-rare) upon trying a slice said it was an exceptional piece of meat I had it with asparagus, no sauce and swapped out the chips for a feta/pepper bowl which worked perfectly as did the glass of Shiraz that Jo picked out to compliment it for me. Genuinely I can not pick fault (read through my other reviews I write honestly, pick fault where warranted and compliment where due). Had this lovely little find been in our usual local it would surely become a regular haunt ours for sure. I would 100% recommend this place and extend our gratitude to all the staff for making our entire visit memorable and perfect."
