"Came to look at hotel last year to book for November this year. Looked very impressive. How wrong was I. Booked for two nights. Arrived 4-30pm. Room was nothing special and was very cold. Went out for a meal and retuned at 9-30pm. I booked a twin room as my husband has many health problems which I won’t go into. Got into my bed and had quite a shock. The mattress was lumpy and the buttons had been covered with material held down with a metal staple . So uncomfortable.Think I fell asleep at 3am. Woke up at 6am. I had to put my jumper and scarf on, was so cold. Had a lovely breakfast and staff were very nice. Spoke to the manager about the mattress and the cold room. Went out for the day and came back early as I was absolutely shattered. Same mattress and still freezing cold . Went to reception and asked for the manager and was told they where fully booked and could do anything about it. He followed me back to our room to look at the mattress. Which shows he did absolutely nothing to help . He had all day to do something about it but obviously couldn’t be bothered . He said our choices were to sleep on the same mattress or leave. Now I’m nearly 74 years of age and paid a lot of money to sleep here. Told him again I couldn’t sleep on it so he told us to leave. On a very cold night and pouring with rain ,we checked out and not knowing the area we just sat in the car . He did mention another hotel In Yarmouth which we ended up at and I want to thank him for that as it was so much better then the Cliffs We got a full refund . Didn’t make up for the horrible experience."

Lovely Sunday lunch, service, food setting including a lovely view perfect. Was recommended to us and certainly lived up to the recommendation.

Service was not up to scratch you get looked down on if you just want water with your meal Not everyone drinks alcohol during the day. The view is the best thing about this place Meals take too long to arrive

Had family meal last night, table of 9 and food was very good and all enjoyed.. Disappointment would be the toilets, I had to report mens toilet mess (which could have been there for least an hour). Then my wife had to report that there was no toilet roll in ladies, maybe a toilet rota would help? To finish on a high the staff were very apologetic about the state of toilets and during meal were very attentive and happy.

This restaurant is now not up to the standard it used to be .We had to wait 40 minutes for the food to come out .If it had been another 5 minutes we would have left .The hand cut chips we paid extra for were greasy ,chunky and unpeeled .They were more like potato wedges The waitress asked what sauces we wanted ,I had a chicken burger .I had just come back from Portugal and I got a taste for peri sauce .There was a mention of peri sauce on the menu .I asked for peri sauce ,The waitress said that would be extra . Fair to say that we won’t be going again .At the time if writing the review this restaurant was rated 30th out of 32 restaurants locally .I’m sure it will get the 32nd spot soon

Pre Booked high tea for 12 guests in October for November baby shower,Google search took us to Cliff Hotel Gorleston, site price stated £17.95 per person when we all got there setting was beautiful but that’s as far as it goes food was woeful for me personally I never ate a thing nothing looked appetising bread finger sandwiches felt stale. To top it off when it came to pay our £17.95 ,high tea was £22.95 but this was never stated when pre booking less than four weeks earlier for 12 £17.95 high teas. We did speak to management showed him exactly where are info came from but to no avail. Thankfully it was a great crowd so we had a brilliant time but all very disappointed with the supposed high...

The location great. We ate outside but under cover the seats nearer to the half windows were wet due to rain. It was cold asked for heaters. The Sunday lunch was tasty if somewhat pricey. The waiter was a bit slow. Whilst you allow dogs in to this part of the hotel it's not very nice when one selfish inconsiderate disrespectful dog owner let their dog go to the loo on the artificial carpet and left it there for someone else to pick it up. You know who you are It's a bit off putting in fact we should have refused to pay. Its all very well to appease the dog lovers but what about people just wanting a lovely Sunday.lunch. I expected a slight reduction but I doubt if our waiter even mentioned i...

Sitting on the terrace, overlooking Gorleston beach, beautiful warm sunshine. Our food was lovely and service great. No complaints there. My complaint? A group celebrating a baby shower complained that they were cold, (it definitely wasn’t cold), so staff out the heaters on. Myself and a few other patrons were then roasting hot. Sun beating down and heaters, I mentioned this to a waitress who said there was nothing she could do as “the group” were cold. Another couple got up and left, composing they were too hot. Honestly ridiculous, if you’re cold then go inside, unsure why the rest of us had to suffer can only assume that “they were a group and paying more than the other guests” wrong atti...

We arrived with family (grand parents, grandchildren, etc. for a drink and nibbles after enjoying the beautiful Gorleston beach and were immediately made to feel unwelcome. Despite the terrace having lots of empty tables, we were told they were fully booked for that area and sent to a table in the cold/windy shaded space away from the terrace which incidently was completely deserted. Maybe the terrace was fully booked but it certainly didn 't seem that way. It felt like our party including young children was a problem best kept out of sight. When approaching the bar to buy drinks, we were aggressively and rudely told by no less than 3 waitresses (simultaneously to go back to our table and to...

"An exceptionally unique dining experience! Our holiday companion booked Pamela’s for dinner and we were unsure of what to expect, however we were assured of good quality food and a great experience and we certainly were not disappointed. Upon arrival we were shown to a table in the lounge, provided with the menus and ordered drinks. Service is exceptionally professional and friendly from arrival to departure. The decor is most unique and very fun to take in. The upstairs dining room is more casual and I loved watching the chefs in the open kitchen. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Our vegetarian diner was slightly limited for choice and there was a blip with the main course, however it was handled and recovered very well (we were unaware when booking, however we have now been advised to phone ahead a minimum of 24-hours and special meal arrangements can be made in advance for vegetarian meals). The fish cakes and miso Salmon were very delicious and cooked to perfection. The duck legs had crispy skin, moist meat and a tasty accompanying Orzo pasta. All in all I would thoroughly recommend Pamela’s for a delicious meal with 5* service. Vegetarian options: Recommended to advise the restaurant a minimum of 24-hours in advance. There were 2 starters and 1 main course (featuring pasta on all dishes) on the a la carte menu, however if you call in advance then arrangements can be made."

"We booked the rest restaurant for 5:30pm to have dinner (2 adults and 2 young children). When we arrived, the waitress took our name and booking details and asked us to wait until the table was ready. We waited, waited, and waited for the waitress to return 15minutes on, and making conversation with other guests who looked frustrated at also waiting around, we were taken to our table at the back. Our kids were starving, so we immediately placed the order for starters, mains AND drinks together. The drinks were taking a long time to arrive, so my wife gave the kids water from their beaker water bottle. Our drinks arrived after 20mins from ordering, and asking for them twice. The restaurant was quite busy, but we could see that there were lots of other guests trying to catch the attention of the staff members, and could hear arguments on the other end of the restaurant. After an hour, our starters had still not arrived, so my wife asked how long it would be. The waitress said she would go check and come back. After 15minutes, I asked another waitress to give us an update. The waitress came back and said that our starters were being cooked and would be out in 10minutes we sighed relief, and told our kids that food was coming. We realised that food was clearly taking a long time to cook, so said to the waitress to bring our starters and mains together, rather than waiting around we had plans onwards, and it had been over an hour already since placing the order. After another 20minutes, we asked the waitress where our starters were, as she had said it was 10minutes away. This time, a very rude (manager) came to our table and said that our starters were at the back of the queue, as we had asked for the starters to be brought with the mains! This was absolutely pathetic, and we mentioned that our kids were starving, as it had been 90minutes since placing our order. The manager said that this is normal and offered us complimentary prawn crackers (but charged us for the dips, which we later realised). After another 45minutes and seeing other guests arguing about the same issue, we saw comfort that we weren 't the only ones in this mess. Our kids were starving so ate the prawn crackers in a hurry. When the food arrived, it was bedtime for the kids, so we asked for the bill and takeaway boxes. The bill arrived with a 10% service charge and additional cost for the complimentary prawn crackers. I asked the waitress to deduct the 10% service charge and queried the complimentary prawn crackers, and if there was anything they could do by way of discount for the lengthy delay. The rude manager came out and started shouting at us, saying that he doesn 't like families with young children in his fancy restaurant, and he cannot offer a discount as we would be leaving a negative review. I couldn 't believe he was saying this almost bullying us into leaving a positive review! Our kids were crying, so I said to give me the card machine for me to pay using AMEX. The manager said that they don 't accept AMEX, but I highlighted that he 's got a AMEX sign outside the door. Infact, he was using a AMEX wallet in which the receipt came. He was very offensive and said that it 's his business and he can do what he wants photos of the AMEX sign outside uploaded. I would avoid visiting this restaurant and I would suggest Trading Standards look into how this man operates a business very rudely."
