"Went here on the back of reading all the glowing reports on trip advisor and I have to say I am really let down.. I am a lone traveller so it takes a lot for me to walk into a pub on my own and the welcome I got was anything but friendly. I went into the ‘quiet’ side of the pub and waited patiently for the staff to serve me. Having gone in the pub for dinner after a long day travelling I was greeted by a less than happy face Which instantly put me on the back foot! when I asked politely if they were serving food I got a very abrupt ‘no’ with no explanation. I asked why and was told in a very curt and rude manner that there was no chef. With that I turned around and left the pub immediately. I do not think in this day and age there is any excuse for rudeness when all that needed to be said was an apology explaining there was no chef this evening."

Great little pub in the village of Grain. It's the kind of old style pub that I love. Great decor and you need to try their roasts, 3 courses for something silly like £14 and each course is massive and the roast is superb.

All staff friendly and a lovely atmosphere but was lacking any food in the redundant restaurant ,so much more could be made with this pub the only one in the village but the great locals still make it a friendly place to drink.

Just ate Sunday lunch at the Hogarth Inn pub on the Isle of Grain and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Fantastic value for money and quality of food is exceptional for a local pub. Friendly landlord, waitresses and local customers, can't go wrong. Ver carta

I've seen a crappy review from an idiot who didn't even enter the building, ignore the Muppet. The Hogarth is great, great beer, excellent staff and brilliant food. It's good value and my family don't stop talking about the place. Just booked another two tables

We’ve dined here a few times since discovering this pub last summer. I can’t recommend it enough. The food is well cooked with generous portions and reasonably priced. The hunter’s chicken is, according to my dad, the best he’s ever had. There is no higher praise!

Very happy to report friendly attentive staff, and nice and quiet. Food arrived promptly, and wow!,, stunning meal. beer battered cod (yes cod,not river cobbler). The meal and setting was really pleasing. Prices were really good and the quality was even better. We will definitely be popping back again. Ver carta

Over the weekend we went to visit my partners family and we went to the Hogarth for a meal on Saturday. I have to say to a very welcoming old world pub and the food was excellent. The garlic mussels in white wine and garlic sauce were delicious. We went for a drink Sunday after noon and thank you we won 2 meat raffles.A very wonderful atmosphere . All in all a good place to visit

We went here because all of the other Pubs were closed (at lunchtime) and we were not expecting a lot. I tried the "Wild Boar Scotch Egg with Beetroot Salad. It was prepared from fresh ingredients by the Chef, taking about half an hour to prepare but was absolutely delicious and a big surprise to find cooking that good in a pub miles from anywhere. It cost about £5.00. Above and beyond the call of duty and well worth a mention.

"Found out that under new ownership since October 2023, so recommendations to me were based on friends experience with previous owners. The manager was friendly and very attentive, asking lots of questions, explaining their menu when asked, telling me that the interior will be changed in the near future. Anyway, for starters we chose Calamari, Garlic Mushrooms with Cheese, King Prawns, and Halluomi. We then all helped ourselves to bits and pieces of each. The starters were plentiful in portion size, with all choices being great, especially the garlic mushrooms with cheese. For mains we chose a mixed grill, chicken shish, lamb ribs, and chicken wings and chips for my daughter. The chicken and lamb shish were both tender and full of flavour, and the lamb ribs were great. They all came with slad and bulgur (I can only describe it as a cross between rice and cous-cous).The mixed grill was plentiful in size and looked appetising, but my father in law enjoyed that all to himself , so I can only assume it was good. My daughter enjoyed her chicken wings too We were given bread on the table, which was warm and full of flavour too. We were definitely made to feel welcome, and will definitely return. Good to know that they deliver too. We were at the restaurant early (5pm booking), so were the only people in the restaurant, however, there was a constant stream of delivery drivers collecting orders for delivery. It was my daughters birthday the following day, so tye manager gave her a small dessert on the house as well. Parking: A few parking spaces on the street just a couple of doors down from the restaurant , where you use the RingGo App or good old cash to pay for parking."
