A lovely friendly pub. We stayed over in our campervan. Had a wonderful meal. The service was friendly, timely and the food was excellent. We’ll be back if we’re in the area.

The staff is friendly, the service is excellent, and the food is delicious. The restaurant is situated in a beautiful location, resembling a traditional country pub. I will definitely be returning again in the future!

A fantastic pub. We had a last request for 10 people on a bank holiday (due to an emergency cancellation elsewhere) and they could not have been accommodating. Great service, lovely food, great kids menu and a fantastic garden area with stream, goal and play area. We will be returning. Ver carta

I was extremely let down by my recent visit to this restaurant. The noise level was deafening, with loud people making it difficult to have a calm meal. Additionally, the restaurant seemed to be short on staff, causing delays in service. To top it off, numerous menu items were no longer available, greatly limiting options. Overall, it was not a pleasant dining experience and I have no plans to return.

Best Sunday roast I would highly recommend the horse and jockey for a roast dinner, really tasty plenty of veg meat and potatoes and tasty homemade Yorkshire pudding! Could not fault the food, I am fussy on my roasts as I like my own, but I have to say one of the best roast dinners I have had eating out! Lovely pub, dog friendly! The staff were lovely, friendly and excellent customer service. Will be returning soon

I have been a longtime patron of this restaurant and have had many positive experiences since the new owners took over. However, my most recent visit was not as enjoyable. The staff and host seemed very stressed and were somewhat abrupt. I usually enjoy the wings and ribs here, as they have always been a generously sized portion. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to receive only a half rack of ribs and just two tiny half wings this time. I used to get at least three full wings. Additionally, when I asked to swap my chips for a salad, I was given less than a handful of salad. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. Ver carta

We phoned ahead and booked a table. On arrival we ordered our drinks and a table was pointed out to us. I had to clear colouring in sheets and pencils. The waitress took our order and we sat and drank our drinks, I went to the bar and ordered our second drinks and the young lady behind the bar asked if we had ordered our food because our chit had no food on it. She asked what we had ordered and then went to the kitchen to check. On her return we asked if the order had been lost which she said no. Our food took over 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive which was nicely cooked. Have eaten here before and have to say it would not have been my first choice but convenient to try it again with the family, three of which were children. The bar was loud and noisy with what can only be described as drunks, shouting, swearing and being thoroughly obnoxious. Not good when you have children with you. None of the bar staff made any attempt to ask them to tone it down. When we were leaving one of these individuals was so drunk, throwing up in the car park and got in his van driving off towards Denmead. It was disgusting. Well we don’t go out much these days due to the cost of living issues, but when family come we always book the Horse and Jockey because we know they will have a great variety of Sunday roasts to choose from. However, I always choose the Ribs and Wings they are to die for. A bit messy but never disappointing. The wife always goes for the beef Sunday roast with a good variety of vegetables and the gravy boat. We have never been disappointed, we also like the Pekin Duck Salad absolutely fabulous. Sundays are always busy, you must book. Steve the proprietor is very friendly and likes to joke around now and again. He always has time for all his customers, and will speak to all.
