"The TripAdvisor review for Lasdun is a bit confusing as it seems to be striving to be a top destination restaurant on its own. Located within the Nat Theatre, it is part of their efforts to create a vibrant dining and drinking scene that caters not only to theatre-goers but also to others looking for a nice meal. I visited on a Saturday night in June, after the pre-theatre rush had passed. My dining companion and I enjoyed a delicious meal, and even struck up a conversation with a delightful couple from Margate at the next table, which added some liveliness to the otherwise quiet restaurant. We started with a snack and a first course of crab, followed by a piece of pollack with chips - all of which was well-prepared using quality ingredients. The service was good, and we had a nice view overlooking the river. The restaurant's design pays homage to Lasdun's South Bank architectural style, and the room itself is quite charming. Our bill came to £176 for two, including 2 white Port Tonics and a bottle of Valeriole Rose - not cheap, but worth it for the high quality of the food and the unique experience. The only downside was the lack of ambiance, but overall, this place has great potential and we look forward to returning."

Really delicious and unusual food. Although the menu is short, there was still a good choice for vegetarians. Lovely, genuinely friendly staff.

We had a wonderful afternoon tea with friends and family. The service was very attentive and we stayed longer than expect. We were not rushed to leave despite the pre-theatre customers arriving.

This place never fails to surprise me. Each time I visit there are innovative dishes to delight. The service is very efficient. It’s ideal before a show and not very expensive. It’s always consistent.

I met up with a group of friends at this restaurant last Saturday. The food was fantastic, each course was full of flavor, and the set menu was a great deal. The staff was friendly and attentive. We didn't have tickets to a show, we just came to the restaurant to hang out while a play was going on. The tables were nicely spaced out, so we were able to chat comfortably. It was a pleasant experience.

We eat here regularly post theatre and really appreciate its lateish opening hours. it is not easy to find a good restaurant that is open after in London surprisingly. The food is fresh, excellent and interesting. The menu changes regularly enough to keep...us coming back and the wine list and service contribute to this. At our last visit we had the scallops, crispy mussels and pork belly main. it was just amazing and I hope it stays on the menu for a while so that I can have it again.

This restaurant is extremely convenient being at The National Theatre. We had the set menus. The food was nice but not amazing and the portions were just about enough. My chops were cold and had to be sent back. We were regular visitors to Mezzanine,...it’s predecessor, which was truly fantastic. This is not half as good and I wouldn’t rush back as there are other good restaurants near the theatre. The service was good. We had the set menu for two, bread and a portion of chips and a lager. The bill including service was

The food was delicious and the service was great. However, the atmosphere left something to be desired. Our table was situated near a group of four young men who grew increasingly noisy as the night went on. The restaurant wasn't even crowded, so it was unnecessary for us to be seated so closely together. The situation became so unbearable that we decided to leave after finishing our main course. It felt like dining in a school cafeteria, except much more expensive. We had mentioned to the staff that it was a special birthday celebration, but we were not made to feel special at all.

We booked afternoon tea in this restaurant, I can honestly say it was the worst afternoon tea we have ever had, absolutely disgusting, two small sandwiches each, white bread one was dry, the other sandwich filled with grated carrot!!!! Supposedly with hummus which I couldn’t...taste. Stromboli that was also very dry and a piece of pork pie all garnished with wilting greenery! Angel cake that was flavourless, a macaroon that was filled with a disgusting grey substance and a scone that resembled a dough ball, finished with the same wilting greenery, not sure I’ve ever had cakes garnished with salad before!! All for the cost of I cannot say how disappointed we were

Now out-of-towners, we come up to London for matinees at the National, and lunch beforehand at House. This place is more than excellent. Welcoming, efficient (as they must be, everyone eating has a deadline to be in their theatre seat) and the food is inventive...and absolutely delicious. I had smoked duck with red cabbage (it was the red cabbage that put The Other Half off that dish, but when he tasted mine he had a re-think) with a puree that would give even red cabbage a good name. I then had cod, perfectly cooked, with a clam or two and a delicious sauce and wonderful mash. TOH had sea food or fish pasta dumplings of some sort, they too were delicious, and the cod too. He had a pudding w...
