this year, as usual when we descend from wild to caprile, we stopped several times to the old coffee in the mail, for a perfumed espresso and especially for the delicious sweets, including fruit pancakes and various types of strudels. This hotel is in the little town of Caprile, on the bank of the river that feeds Lake Alleghe, and perhaps three miles from the town of Alleghe. The walk from Caprile, by the river bank, then around the Lake, through Alleghe and back to...Caprile is very pleasant indeed. The scenery is majestic, the woods cool and the town interesting. After such a walk a stop at the Hotel alla Posta is almost essential, coffee and cake if you feel peckish, pizzetta and hot chocolate if the weather is cool, a wide variety of long, cold drinks if the weather is hot. Added to which is the pleasure of sitting in the square under the shade of the umbrellas watching the world go by as you sip your drink.
