"A very tired and sad looking hotel. Took 9 clients here for an overnight stay while they were visiting the area. It's part of a luxury hotel group ICMI Collection which included 5 star hotels but we are unsure why this is in the portfolio unless it's going to be rebuilt or gutted. It's key feature is it's position overlooking the head of Loch Ness. There was even a load of coke cans and bottles discarded on the entrance to the property at the top of the drive. Not sure if this is a staff area but it indicated the way it's being managed as it's unacceptable as a welcome to clients seeking something special. I suspect it was booked last minute and wasn't full when the American agent needed to book their clients into Fort Augustus. Hope it gets the investment it deserves."

Beautiful view, polite staff. Slightly overpriced and lacked vegetarian/vegan options for breakfast.

Perfect location a few miles from Fort Augustus, south, and Urquhart Castle, north along Loch Ness. Beautiful views, friendly, inviting hotel staff and fine wait staff in the dining room. Intimate. Perfect for a Scottish culture weekend. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

We got the Ness room, a lovely room with a large bed, large bathroom and views of Loch Ness. We loved it. The only drawback is that it is better to have a car to be able to move around because to go to Fort Augustus, although it is not very far, there is no sidewalk on the road, I did not see a way to go if it is not by car. Ole Scottish hunting Lodge that is in an excellent little town. Rooms were not too clean and we had a cockroach in our bathroom. Food in the restaurant was average. Breakfast was delicious but dinner wasn't that good. We tried to use the dining area at night to play a game and we were kicked out by staff who told us to go into a dark corner of the lodge to play games. Rooms: Dirty and outdated Walkability: Very walkable into town. It was beautiful. Food drinks: Average at best

So the hotel itself is dated and creaky, the food was overpriced, and location was excellent. But the reason we loved this stay is the local culture shown to us by the brilliant pink haired young lady that runs this place, Saskia. She was so pleasant and courteous about our stay then showed us the local places after hours. Thanks again Saskia you are the best i am mad we didn't take any pictures together but hope you enjoyed the night mode pictures of clear Scottish stars and hope you see the aurora again

"My beloved treated me for my birthday (as he knows this is my favourite restaurant locally and I have been bending his ear about how wonderful it is! . He was a little sceptical when he saw the pictures of the tasting menu because he loves his food (in quantity that would sink most . Well, what can I say except...a lovely welcome at reception, quickly seated and drinks ordered, thanks to the wonderfully attentive waiting staff (Josh, is a star and really knowledgeable of the menu . The amuse bouche. trio duck liver twiglet, Arbroath smokie gougeres and the trout/apple tartlet were an absolute explosion of flavour and a taster if things to come. The treacle bannock was served with an onion butter and a plain butter topped with Isle of Skye salt (amazing stuff and very moreish. (at this point hubby 's eye 's lit up and he became enthusiastic! . I had the Highland Beef for my main, he had the Halibut and mussels and both were exceptional and beautifully presented. The Lemon cheesecake (in a chocolate coating with blackcurrant sorbet was just delicious and a perfect, not too sweet or heavy, way to end the meal. I didn 't take pics (unfortunately but they do have some of the dishes on their Facebook and instagram pages. Tasting menus of this quality will never be cheaper but this was absolutely worth every penny. 3 AA rosettes is really an under estimate of Chef Kelly and the teams abilities! Thank you for a memorable evening and we will most definitely be back. P.s I 've made the bannock bread from the recipe given it 's amazing :"
