"Absolutely excellent , we had a family day at the Safari Park and we booked in here for 5pm. As soon as we walked in I knew that it was going to be great! The smell as you walk in was tremendous (and I’m a chef) so I was licking my lips ! Very warm welcome from an Italian gentleman and a quick wave to the chef and we were seated very quickly and drinks order was taken. There were 4 adults and a 1 1/2 year old (wee Freddie) who made a mess but nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We had several various dishes between us , namely , Burrata and tomato salad, Garlic Prawns, Garlic Mushrooms, Focaccia , Mussels, rigatoni, Pizza and a pepper steak and lovely roast potatoes and veg. FANTASTIC! I loved the fact that they had a few specials too. I would return just to try the specials! I just wish I lived a bit closer as I would be in all the time !!"

"Wasn't expecting that much on our first visit after the easing of lockdown, despite a few previously enjoyable visits, to what is now entitled Mason Belles Kitchen the restaurant in the Old Churches Houses . Boy was I wrong ! Our meal on Thurs 30th July was memorable. The catch of the day was seabass and prawns with pak choi and ginger/soy sauce. Amazing. Would have soaked that sauce up with anything available even from other tables and heard another gent at a near table express a similar opinion ! My wife's Crispy Gnocchi was equally well received . The chef on that night is really, really talented and deserves recognition. So pleased this place is open again."

"We found this cafe on Tripadvisor as it was a convenient stopping point for us en route from Inverness to Carlisle. We had a really excellent lunch with friendly and efficient service. The food was wonderful and a little different from the norm. Fabulous!"

"We reserved a table for six people and found that all the food was excellent. I failed to snap a photo of the steak burger, but it was the best I have ever tasted. I highly recommend this restaurant. The service was outstanding. We dined in for dinner and found the price per person to be between £10-20. The food, service, and atmosphere all received a rating of 5 stars. I recommend trying the Chicken Halloumi Bowl, Cauliflower Steak, and Dirty Vegan Fries."

"We ate here this evening whilst staying in the hotel. When we went to book a table in the restaurant (they don’t take walk-ins even for hotel guests) we were informed that there were no tables for another two hours. As we are frequent travellers and had only booked the hotel a few hours earlier I decided to book, what a mistake I made; even during the process of creating the booking the gentleman walked away to fix a card machine for a colleague. With a one year old baby this was less than ideal but we happily went back at 8pm. We were then made to stand in a queue for another 10 minutes before we were seated. They had forgotten the requested highchair so we reminded the gentleman and he said he’d go and get it. Another 20 minutes later our very helpful waitress arrived to take our drinks order and apologised profusely when we pointed out the missing highchair. Generally the service across the restaurant was poor with a clear lack of management or communication. I’d assume something went really wrong with their service this evening as I don’t remember seeing such poor service for many years. The food was ok when it arrived and the waitress seemed to work hard to make up for the problems we had seen early on. Overall service was 1/5 but through no fault of our hard working waitress. Food quality 3/5 average for a Doubletree. Value for money 1/5 they were charging £32.95 for a steak and £4.50 for a Coke! Almost tourist trap prices, and that’s from somebody who stays in Hilton brand properties several times per month. I’ll review the hotel separately upon checkout and I’ll update Flyertalk also but the poor F&B service has unfortunately let the whole hotel down."
