Amazing food and service, would highly recommend, esp for a business lunch

Way too loud in bar couldn't chat. The restaurant was lovely though service and food excellent

For the price other than the tuna tataki and salmon avocado sushi nothing wowed us. The black cod loin that was suggested to us for me was a complete let down for £37. But the ambience was good and we did enjoy ourselves

Good and service was excellent but the mark up on the wine was excessive £9 bottle retail to £41 in the restaurant for a screw top which we poured ourselves and then on top 12.5% service , I never know a mark up of x5 won’t be going back Ver carta

Food was very nice but service was the worst I’ve witnessed in a long time. We had to wait for over 40 mins after one of our plates was finished. Was due another but we told them not to bother due to it taking so long. Had to try and ask someone for a drink as when we finished our drinks no one came to ask us if we wanted another. Then when we asked for the bill took another 20 minutes just to come. Was a real shame as the food was good.

Whilst we did advise the restaurant of the fact that one of the diners was gluten free due to a significant intolerance, the server seemed clueless about the menu and the details of the allergens beyond a largely unfathomable allergen spreadsheet that was offered to us. We have dined here several times, and recommended it to a number of celiacs, but the current offer at Issho is rather inaccessible. Notwithstanding the cost of some of the dishes compared to what is on the plate being rather uneven... £14 for a singular soft shell crab, two sticks of old broccoli and a leaf is not what I would call appealing. Nor was it particularly good.

Expensive particularly when service was terrible In summary the food is great, when it comes, unfortunately the service was terrible. The staff numbers are too low for the covers they take on; when I spoke to the manager(s) they admitted there were not enough servers well that's easy: don't over book! We opted for the Emperor set menu with wine flight; £220 12.5% service. On most occasions our wine only came after we had eaten the associated courses. Despite asking them to serve wine earlier. Part of the problem, in my opinion, is that they have a very noisy cocktail bar with a DJ: this puts a huge demand on the bar and staff they just cannot cope!
