"I stayed here with my partner for one night over the Easter bank holiday weekend. We spent the day in Swanage, about 20/25 minutes drive away. The hotel was really easy to find as it's off a main road but despite this, the room was very quiet and you couldn't hear the traffic. The room we were given was on the ground floor and it was HUGE! I've never seen a hotel room so big! The bed was king size, there was a sofa, chairs and TV, and the bathroom was spacious as well. We were also given complimentary mini chocolate eggs with the tea/coffee making facilities as it was Easter I nice little touch that we really appreciated! We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant as we didn't really have the energy to get in the car and find somewhere else to eat. We were seated in the lounge where we were served drinks and ordered food. We found it a little strange to be seated in the lounge until our food was ready but if you had children with you there were games and books for them to use. The food was beautiful and it was a large portion! The bed was comfortable although there was a strange ticking noise that went on through the night. We told the hotel staff in the morning and they were very apologetic and promised to check it after we left. Breakfast was included with our room rate and offered both cooked breakfast and cereal/fruit options. The staff were very accommodating of different dietary requirements. Overall I really enjoyed our stay here and wished it could have been for one night! The room was brilliant and such a good size. The food was excellent as well. The staff were friendly and accommodating although there only seemed to be two people working there so the woman looked a little stressed! This hotel is a good distance from local attractions and would be a good base for visiting Swanage, Corfe Castle and Lulworth Cove."

The hotel is a middle of the road country-style hotel with decent rooms and friendly staff. The restaurant is pleasant and the food and service very acceptable. No superlatives to offer but no negatives either; all in all a good hostelry in the Wareham/Swanage area.

We had a lovely time at Kemps and the owners John Carol made us very welcome, the food was really good and our waitress went the extra mile to get us what we required.......Our compliments to the Chef as his food was really tasty especially the Duck....The breakfast was to die for full English eggs anyway you want them also smoked salmon, kippers etc.... The rooms were very comfortable with flat screen TV. like home from home. The area was lovely especially Lulworth Cove. Great Pub there. As we visited in November the leaves on the trees were turning a rustic brown red was a lovely sight. I recommend a visit to Monkey World very educational.

My parents wanted to take us, two vegetarians, out for dinner somewhere special. We chose Kemps, after checking that they did offer at least one vegetarian main course. When we arrived, we found the menu had indeed the promised one vegetarian main course mascarpone and tomato ravioli. However, the only vegetarian starter was mozarella tomato salad. So two courses, both cheese and tomato! I had really expected better at Kemps, but hadn't realised just how behind the times they are. What an unimaginative chef they must have. We left, and went to the Red Lion in Wareham, where they had several vegetarian choices and great service. We will not bother with Kemps again

This is billed as a luxurious accommodation it is not it is adequate, clean and has large rooms in the annex that we used. Disappointments were that I emailed the hotel 4 days before arrival, they never bothered to reply, the Manager Owner addressed me as young man I am over 65) rather than my name, on our first morning we asked for tea and hot water, got the hot water but no tea for another 10 minutes, it went to another table, had to go and find the waiting staff to ask for our plates to be cleared 15 mins after we had finished, Tins of paint stored in reception, bottles of drinks in the corridors. With a bit more care and professionalism this could be a really nice hotel

I expected more from this Hotel/Country House, it was advertised as 5 starred which I don't feel it is by any means but that's just my opinion. It was a comfortable place to stay in, certainly not luxurious though, right on the main Road so you couldn't miss it which is a plus. Bedroom was spacious, décor and furnishings were good although I did notice a bit of mold on the net curtain . Lovely décor in the restaurant. We were visiting relatives and therefore didn't have dinner there just came back for drinks that evening and had breakfast the next morning. All in all it was ok for the purpose we wanted it for just an overnight stay while visiting the area. Very friendly staff.

I stayed here for three nights at the end of October whilst working in the area, I have stayed at the Springfield Hotel and The Countryman as well as the Rembrandt in Weymouth but this is my favourite so far. The only thing lacking is any fitness facilities. The rooms are good, I had a room upstairs which was a good standard and a good size. I had a problem with the shower one morning as another reviewer mentioned, it seems to run out of water. However after a 5 mins it started working again. I'd heard mixed reviews from my colleagues about breakfast service but I found it to be of a high standard although it was half-term so the hotel was quite busy. Smoked salmon and scrambled egg was exce...

The good, the bad and the ugly. Lovely bedroom, comfortable bed but pillows like hardboard! shower not working so decided on a bath as arrived soaking wet after being caught in a downpour. It was lunchtime and used the last of the shower gel to make bubbles but realised just before I jumped in that the hot water had run out. Not happy! A light over the mirror in the bathroom would be a big improvement and a towel big enough to go round and cover me! I am not big but they were hand towel size for me. Such a small thing that makes it feel less luxurious and would be cheap to put right. Plenty of drawers and wardrobe space. Good TV channels but volume restricted to quite a low level if there is...

"We had the best time here on Saturday lunch. We arrived early to a quiet restaurant and were greeted by super friendly and well informed staff, who made us feel at ease and explained their new ‘small plates’ menu. Our kids were given a nice menu with colouring in and nothing seemed too much to ask for. We decided to let our 4 and 6 year old order from their kids menu and hoped they would try some of our dishes too. The menu really is very appealing, so much so that the 3 adults ended up ordering EVERY dish they had on the menu in the end! I think it was 16 various dishes of meats, fish, veggies and pasta’s. All homemade and with a really modern vibe. Our waitress was soo good at making us feel at ease we had the best time. A few dishes were ordered and came out really fast we were overjoyed at how beautiful they looked, and the flavours we so well balanced and punchy we got really giddy and decided to order all of the other dishes and just share them all out. Have to say each dish was a triumph, my favourite was the pork ‘burnt ends’ with sweet and sour carrots and a mustard sauce, my partners was the pointed cabbage dish with sesame, my mothers the beetroot and goats cheese crispy ball. They all were delicious, and our kids tried loads of new things like a crab pasta and a cheesey focaccia. It seems like they really thought these little dishes out soo well, temperatures, textures, colours, flavours, elegance we’ve not had anything like this outside of London. So, 16 plates in, plus the kids had their main course… we were all full up, felt like we’d been on a culinary adventure. And then we were offered something sweet okay maybe we were just being greedy, maybe we just couldn’t resist not trying more?! The kids had a ‘build your own dessert’ of ice cream and sauces and sprinkles and cake bits looked great but sadly only for kids! We had their ‘sweet things’, kind of like large petit fours. Chocolatey cake balls, salted caramel truffles and tart passion fruit jellies all were amazing! By the time we left, the restaurant was really busy and I can see why we will most certainly be coming again! Thank you!"
