"We were visiting the Museum and the nearby cairns and standing stones. The cafe in the museum was closed so we found the Kilmartin Hotel and Restaurant right across the street. We didn't know what to expect but we were very pleasantly surprised. We were seated quickly. The place was very busy. Looked like 2 or 3 people ran the whole place and I'm sure a lot was going on in the kitchen, but everything was very efficient. I had the steak and ale pie. Very satisfying. My wife and daughter both had the mushroom bourguignon (vegan) and they both said it was excellent. My son had a burger, which he said was very good. I was driving, Scottish country roads are insane, so I couldn't drink. I had a double espresso. Excellent experience. Perfect little Scottish restaurant/pub. I can't speak to the hotel part."

Came here with the family after we were up visiting relations in Arduaine. Brilliant pub/resteraunt in a great setting. Food service cold beers 10/10. Try the venison burger if its on the special board. Fantastic. Ver carta

An older hotel, lovingly cared for by a terrific staff. Rooms have quirky configurations which give them great versatility. Excellent meals. Wonderful, historical location. Check out the museum across the road and take a walk to see the monuments that are literally thousands of years old. I'd return to this hotel in a heartbeat.

My 1st time eating at this Hotel. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival. Walked into a lovely atmosphere in the bar and the staff were so lovely. Our meal was superb! I had the Fish in a light beer batter and it was perfection, so fresh, and huge with salad chips. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Staff are great and just made us feel so welcome. We will be back would definitely recommend the Kilmartin Hotel . Thank you so much, we had a really lovely afternoon.

As a local, what can I say…..it’s just the best wee pub in the area. Warm welcome always, staff lovely, food great, service fabulous and Kilmartin Hotel has its very own long history of being a place to stop consistently probably for the past 300 years! Full of charm and a real west coast pub feel. Generations of the family are portrayed on the walls and I’m sure many more to come. Good job Richard and all the team serving the community and the local area with amazing custom Ver carta

Our first time eating here but it won’t be our last. The pub is an old traditional village pub. There is a large garden area for alfresco dining, weather permitting. The menu is pretty extensive and a great selection of daily specials. The madras curry I had was one of the best I have ever tasted. My partner had an enormous portion of beautifully cooked haddock and chips. The staff were very friendly and helpful and everything was reasonably priced. Please give this place a try.

During our road trip along the Argyll coast, we spent a night at this hotel. It has been serving as an inn for over three hundred years and has a lot of character. The food, hospitality, and service were fantastic. We enjoyed the bar, which was filled with locals, and felt like we were having an authentic Scottish experience. While the rooms may be a bit old-fashioned and small, the bed was very comfortable, providing a good night's sleep. This is a wonderful choice for road trippers looking for a taste of Scotland!

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
