Kismet Tandoori - Carta

I have been dining at Kismet for twenty years and I am surprised that the reviews here are not better. The food is delicious and I am always served promptly. They can be a bit stingy with portions at times (I have had to ask for a refill more than once), but this is my only complaint.

I have been won over by the few negative critics. I have tried all the curry places in Cambridge except for Navadhanya, which is on my list. Kismet is, in my opinion, the best. The food is delicious and of high quality. The tarka dall side dish is the best I have ever had in my life. It is a fantastic place.

Kismet is amazing. We are relatively new to Cambridge (one year in) and have tried many Indian restaurants and takeaways, but Kismet stands out. They are wonderful at adapting to customer preferences and always serve fresh and consistent food. It has quickly become our favorite spot, which is great as it is local to us. Ver carta

Terrible customer service on a takeaway order. Operator ended up putting the phone down on me mid sentence after I had asked why the delivery estimate had gone from mins to mins within seconds of ordering. The gentleman I spoke to...was rude and abrupt. I feel sorry for anyone who steps foot in this establishment and has to deal with this people face to face.

I used to go to this place regularly about or so years ago, I remember it being really good food at a reasonable price ... Not any more! I ordered a Chicken Tikka Korma, a plain rice, onion bhaji and a Nan.... There was...VERY little chicken in the Korma, despite being charged extra for the Tikka element, the Nan was cold, the onion Bhajis were very greasy.... Not one I'll do again anytime soon.

Vile vile food ordered last night from this restaurant as a takeaway. Ordered a chicken tikka masala which was so spicey had about lumps of chicken in it and tasted burnt ! Partners food was cold and tasted horrible. No pashwari in the Narn...bread. Forgot items of the order, took ages to come as got lost about times. Would never EVER EVER order from this place again AVOID AVOID AVOID ! worth of food in the bin. Ver carta

Would not recommend. Ordered lamb and prawn takeaway. Somehow they had overcooked the prawns to the extent you could not even cut them in half! The sauce was thick curdled and tasted like salt and chemicals, it was unnaturally red and almost inedible....Lamb was tougher than shoe leather and barely swallowable. The sauce for this curry was good, so it slightly redeemed itself from the otherwise star review I'd have given. Rice came with overcooked peas and mystery stringy vegetables that we didn't want or need. The naan was good but let's face it, that's almost impossible to get wrong. We live round the corner but will never be returning.

I ordered a takeaway to be delivered to my hotel whilst on a business trip as the feedback/reviews seemed quite good in general. I ordered Onion Bhaji starter, tandoori mixed Grill which came with a plain Naan, salad and mint sauce. The Onion Bhajis solid, cold and unfortunately inedible, the mint sauce was a khaki colour and not appetising at all (it didn’t taste fresh either). The tandoori mixed Grill was just about luke warm a little salty but edible at least! The salad was old and I’ve already mentioned the mint sauce. The Naan bread was also stone cold and solid. kismet tandoori, which I should explain to the inappropriate, is an adventurer, no restaurant, is my go-to Indian takeaway in cambridge for many, many years (at least and in all the time I can only remember that disappointed meals. One...was where I had asked for extra seasoning in a biryani, and it had not been added (a disorder in the communication between the receiving cook), and once when a dhansak was under par (usual cook on holiday all the other paints my extra spicy biriyanis and my dhansaks (my two favorites) were absolutely delicious.
