Lai Ling - Carta

We are currently dealing with a frustrating situation at this restaurant. Despite providing our PCN vehicle registration and proof of payment, our appeals have been repeatedly rejected and the fine continues to increase. The staff does not seem interested in helping or listening to our case, causing us unnecessary stress in fighting these charges.

My family and I went to this restaurant for a meal. We parked our three cars in the car park and entered our registrations into the kiosk inside. Despite this, we were all charged for parking. It was a very expensive evening and we will not be returning. It seems there was a communication problem between the ANPR camera and the kiosk inside the restaurant.

We arrived on spec at 7pm on a Saturday. Evening and we were found a table even though the restaurant was busy. The restaurant may not be the best for creating ambience or an oriental experience but the food was really good.. You could order as little or much as you wanted off the menu , each delivered by friendly staff piping hot on small serving plates . The food was decent but nothing outstanding. The real problem was the waitstaff, specifically the older two waitresses, who were quite rude. They would drop food in front of us without any care and rush off, even hovering the food in front of our faces while talking to another table. When clearing the plates, they would lean across us without so much as an "excuse me". The overall service was rushed, rude, and in need of a major overhaul in terms of customer service.

Enjoyed a meal with family at lai ling. BUT!!! we have received a parking fine for apparently not entering our car reg on the machine in the restaurant when I definitely did. This same thing happened to my sister a few months earlier. I have appealed and they are not interested. Also looking at the reviews on here, I can see this Is happening a lot. This has definitely put us off going there again, we are local and have used this restaurant alot. NO MORE. Another £60 on top of the bill is a joke.

Very basic decor and smiles from staff were non existent…. We were told we had to pay upfront for drinks and food ? Food ok not exceptional and very small portions! The plates were the size of side plates ! And the rice was £5 a bowl for 1 person!! . Huge rip off as again it was nothing special they need to learn customer service and how a smile costs nothing felt like they were doing us a favour! They are the only sit down Chinese restaurant in the area and that’s probably why they survive but if another place opened I’m certain they wouldn’t ! we shall not be revisiting would rather use the chippy over the road ! I wouldn't let all the negative reviews deter you. Me, my family and my boyfriend have all being coming here for about two years. Great value for money. Lovely choice of options everything is cooked to order. People are complaining about portion sizes but you can order as much as you want? This is one of the best Chinese places I've been to and everyone I go with agrees. They do the best yuk sung I've ever had. And to the people complaining that it would've cost less if they'd ordered individual dishes. Maybe go somewhere that isn't a buffet only restaurant then? You decided to pay for it instead of going elsewhere that's on you. Never had any issues with the parking just sounds like a tempo...

Massive disappointment; rather like eating mediocre food in a cold canteen. Amazed that we had to pay for our food before eating anything; I guess they've had some bad experiences to warrant this. Very disappointed to only be offered a buffet menu, at £21.99 per head. Four of us ordered 1 starter each and 1 main course. £88 for the food we had was expensive. I now see that the website shows an individual priced menu. Our dishes would have cost £61 in total if we'd been given this menu! I had the chicken chow mein and one of our group had the pork chow mein. We both said the noodles were dry and tasteless, , with hardly any meat, so asked for soy sauce which made them much tastier.
