"We went for a walk tonight when we were here. Nothing is open because it is Ascension Day. We stumbled over this little restaurant and thought we would drink for an evening and maybe have eaten a dessert earlier. We taste down and when we said we wanted a drink, he said no and we left. Very disappointed that they didn't want our custom. How did they know we might not want to celebrate with a bottle of champagne or something like that? Very small and very unfriendly. We felt embarrassing. It was barely crying or busy. Can't recommend."

Called in for a late lunch on the way back from Rocomadour. So glad we stopped. Lovely service and delicious pizza. Well worth the stop. Even had a French lesson from the waitress. I can now order a quarter of a bottle or Rose

A divine find at an end of Alvignac. If you like homemade pizza, you can simply not be disappointed, so much selection and very generous portions. The additional other options on the menu are also very delicious as my family found. Service was excellent...to, excellent price and value.

Interesting and delicious selection of pizza. Very different from the norm....Thank you also to the Welsh waitress who was very friendly.

"This unassuming restaurant has apparently been operating in this little town for 65 years. To me, it had the feeling of a locally loved establishment, full of regulars but still welcoming to travelers who had sought it out as a destination. We walked up just as the wait staff were finishing their lunch on the patio, grabbed the first table outside, and the place was full 15 minutes later.By this time in my week in Dordogne, I had decided to lean in to the local specialty dishes, so I ordered the very typical duck gizzard salad, which sounds odd to me but was delicious. One thing this restaurant did that set their duck gizzard salad apart was to wrap up a big dollop of Rocamadour cheese (the restaurant is very close to Racamadour, after all) inside a crepe and deep fry it, then serve that on top of the salad. It was wonderful, and went really well with the gizzards and the raspberry vinaigrette-like dressing.Next up was the duck leg confit, which was perfectly done. I had this dish elsewhere during our trip, and it was okay there, but was more like duck meat wrapped in a layer of fat. At Chez Ernestine, they achieved the perfect result where the fat mostly just works its way into the meat, with enough to create a crispy seal around the leg. This was the best duck leg confit I had all week in Dordogne. I wish I had had the chance to go back. Had I done so, I should probably have tried some other dishes, but I would have just ordered the same thing. It was really good.I don't recall there being much of a choice with dessert in whichever formula I had ordered, but I got the walnut cake, which is also typical of the region. I wasn't very excited about this, as I had never liked the walnut cake before. I mean, I had always eaten it when I got it, but always wished I could just have some salted caramel ice cream instead. Chez Ernestine's walnut cake redeemed the dish in my mind. I finally understood what it was meant to be. (The cake itself was too dry at other places, which no amount of cream will fix entirely.)Overall, we had a great dining experience. If we go back to that region, I will seek out this restaurant again."
