La Chartreuse Du Bignac

What an incredible property this is. The grounds and views are magnificent. Our room was beautifully decorated and well supplied with all the necessities that are often lacking in many hotels. Dinner was delicious and creative. The wine was very reasonably priced. We were treated to the most beautiful sunset during our dinner. I highly recommend putting this property on your to do list!

A huge improvement over last year in both food quality and service with the new owners.Food really is fabulous quality and the new restaurant has lovely views.The service whilst friendly still needs a bit more finesse if you are asking 120 Euro per person with champagne and wine. Also, there seems to be a large number of greenbottle flies around whenever food was about. Not very pleasant.As I have said before though, the food was wonderful.

Eating out on the terrace watching the sunset was an unbeatable experience. A gourmet meal accompanied by excellent local wines and helpful and attentive staff made for a perfect evening. This was fine dining at its best. The langoustine and beef consommé was a delicious entrée as were the pigeon and white tuna main courses. As we were staying overnight we also had breakfast. This restaurant is a real gem and has the most fabulous outside dining setting as well as a very smart indoor dining experience too. We have visited La Chartreuse de Bignac restaurant 5 times now at different times of the year, and are still eager to return. The food is excellent, and consistently so, which is really important. The menus are always interesting. The staff are a delight, particularly Emmie, who is both engaging and professional. An all round great experience!

We visited this wonderful restaurant on a hot sunny Saturday evening. We were warmly greeted and showed to a table on the terrace with views over the countryside. The menu at 50 Euros was interesting with three amuse bouches arriving before our starters. Each amuse...bouche was well presented and explained to us. The quality of produce for each course was excellent plus the wine list was very local and reasonably priced for a high end restaurant. Overall we had a great meal and will definitely return in the future.

This restaurant is a gem, both for the food and for the setting. Although the menu proposes an amuse-bouche, a starter, a main course and then a dessert (preceded by a cheese course if you wish) in fact the chef sometimes provides a little taster plate between courses. It's all delicate, fun and competent food, and it's all locally sourced. The wine list is also wide and fairly priced. The staff are competent, professional and, well, just nice people. 4 of us had a very unforgettable meal here is a vegetarian. The food is really excellent and the service is faultless. Yes, the prices are high, but for this quality it is worth splashing out once in a while. Our vegetarian was offered a special menu of pumpkin soup and excellent vegetarian risotto designed with fennel and other vegetables for him. Really fabulous and a meal we will remember for a long time. We are so often disappointed, but not on this occasion. We had to end with time to catch a flight from Bergerac Airport (less than 10 minutes away), but there were no worries on this score service was unmarried but in time.
