"My wife and I ate at L’Escale our first night at Charles de Gaulle airport. The hotel we are staying at (the Holiday Inn Express) doesn’t have a restaurant so they recommended going to L’Escale at the Mercure Hotel to eat. It was a great...recommendation as far as we were concerned. We got there before they opened at 1900 (7PM) so stopped at the bar and had some fries and coffee (also very good service there). When the restaurant opened we were seated promptly with a varied menu left with us. My wife decided on the homemade French style vegetable soup and I chose the 250 gram steak and green beans. My wife said the soup was good but different; my steak was cooked the way I like it medium to medium rare! For dessert we chose vanilla ice cream. The service by the multilingual staff was exceptional telling us about the different menus and foods. The food was great too!"

worst meal ever with grumpy service. Club sandwich was prefabricated (which knows how many hours earlier,) pommes also not recently made. they asked for no vinaigrette on enkelsalat, so that they leave it from mann caesar. avoid them at all costs.

What can I say this place has no redeeming features. We ordered, waited......waited......and still waiting. They don’t care and can safely say this is the worst Restraurant I have been to in a very very long time. Do not waste your time please stay alway....Wish I could give this place negative stars....

they don't waste their time and money here. decor is a bad sweat, it makes ikea look good. the music was a teenage girl rock band that was switched off after complaining for 5 minutes and then turned on again. Eat, well, a...Koch in frankreich, which does not know how to ratatouille, that should be enough information.

I know this is an airport hotel restaurant and I shouldn’t expect too much, but after a week of culinary heights this was a fall... The fillet steak was grilled to order but tasted flat and only the heated butter sauce gave some flavor. My...dearest ordered the fish which was ok nothing beyond ok. The French fries were good. Service was good and attentive

6 of us had dinner there on the 30th of December. The staff was really lovely and efficient and the service rather prompt but the food was relatively ordinary. Pizza and pasta as expected : nothing fancy. Fillet steaks very hard , over cooked and...disappointing. Desserts were ok. Quite convenient if you are staying at the hotel but I would not go out of my way to eat there.

Like the similar reviewer I was staying at the Holiday Inn Express and the Front Desk staff recommended L’Escale n the Mercure Hotel opposite. I enjoyed a very nice meal, its a busy restaurant and much better than eating in the airport. The staff were...all men, but friendly and attentive, If not a little busy and looked a bit stressed and had to try and get their attention, being busy, but they were nice. Food was good, moderately priced, perfect if you want a decent and reasonable dinner at the airport.

it is difficult to find a good restaurant in the hotels at the airport charles de galle. we tried l’escale in the mercure hotel after we found nothing better near it. we ordered sweet soup and cäsarsalat with crisp chicken. what we got was not a Caesar salad. it was a big green salad with mayonnaise with what looked like big chicken smuggets. the suppe and the salate were both terrible. the waiters were personal. the meal was too expensive. more patrons near the cheeseburger ordered with frits and a small green salat. her job looked like a much better offer.

This was a pleasant surprise. We had been traveling for 2 1/2 weeks and overnighted at Mercure to catch an early flight to Paris the next day. We didn’t feel like traipsing out to Paris for a meal and preferred the convenience of the hotel...restaurant. It was exactly what we needed. The menu is diverse, portions are big, reasonable prices, and most of all convenient!!! We ordered the artichoke salad, omelette, burger, fish of the day, and of course, French fries. It is definitely not your typical hotel restaurant and I wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again given the location and weariness of travel.

"We have been in France for almost 9 weeks (5 1/2 in Paris, 1 in Nice and 2+ in Provence). Tonight was our last night, spent at an airport hotel, and we went to this place in the village. Unfortunately, the experience was not atypical of many dining experiences we have had in France. I have heard all the explanations and the excuses and I don't care -- bad service is bad service and rude is rude. We have had several very good experiences with service in France, but more often they have been marginal or, like tonight, outright bad. We were given menus and a drink and then waited almost 20 minutes before my wife got up and chased down the waiter (attention owner: he is a thin fellow in his forties), who finally took our order. Despite her asking the waiter several times whether the place could actually cook her steak medium rare (something the French are singularly and consistently unable to do) and despite being assured that they could, the steak came back medium --medium well. No apology from the waiter of course when he saw that it was not cooked properly. But then he also (as is not uncommon) never asked us how our meals were, and never brought us bread or water (which is uncommon). We ordered a second drink apiece, which the waiter apparently forgot about, as he went to three other tables after our order and brought drinks to them. My wife finally got up, went inside and asked him for le addition (we have learned to do this after countless experiences where we tell the waiter that we are finished and we wait forever for the bill, despite sitting at the table and tapping the credit cad against the table and not being engaged in any conversation) and told him to forget about the drinks (which he already had, anyway). His response was that it was busy (not very much). Again, no apology. We love France and have had some great experiences at restaurants, but this place exhibited the typical French attitude. Despite what you may have heard, the typical French waiter at the average restaurant or bistro (I am not talking about a fine restaurant) not only has a nonchalant or standoffish attitude but also does not know much about how the food is prepared and has no sense of professionalism. Americans need to get over the fear of being perceived as aggressive or demanding and call a spade a spade -- bad service is bad service wherever it happens and should not be tolerated. If you are in Europe and you get good service tip appropriately and when you get bad service let the waiter and anyone you see in charge know what you think."
