"My husband and I stayed at Loaf B&B for two nights and oh! how I wish we'd booked longer! Karen was so warm and welcoming from the outset and we immediately felt at home. We had a lovely, light double room upstairs, which shared a bathroom with another room. This was no problem at all as we were up at different times, so there were no queues or issues of any sort. The fact we would be sharing a bathroom was also made clear to us upon booking. There was a bath and a big shower complete with vegan toiletries and different bins for recycling, compost etc (I loved the ethical attention to detail Our bed was large and comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities plus fresh water and soya milk. Upon arrival we also discovered (and devoured wonderful vegan treats in our room a lovely touch Breakfasts were fantastic Karen is an amazing cook and we felt thoroughly spoilt. In addition to fresh fruit and cereals, we were also offered delicious homemade bread and jam each day and a choice of cooked breakfasts or, should you prefer, smoothie/granola bowls. The first morning we had a full cooked breakfast complete with tempeh, crumpets, polenta, mushrooms and beans from the garden. The next day we had wonderful gram-flour pancakes with berries and yoghurt. Drinks were served with homemade soya milk. We also treated ourselves to dessert one evening (which you can order in advance) we were given a delicious layered parfait with coconut caramel, almond brownie, lemon chia pudding coconut cream. Honestly, Loaf is a vegan foodie's dream! The B&B itself is a short drive from Berwick and perfectly situated for exploring the gorgeous Northumberland countryside. We ate out one night and ordered take out the following Karen is kind enough to leave out plates and cutlery in the wonderfully cosy guest lounge for this very purpose. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and would go back in a heartbeat (and plan to Thank you Karen and for the chats! You're the perfect host and your home is the perfect vegan retreat. Recommend +"

Very comfy, clean rooms. Tasty breakfast with great choice. The place its self is in a rural and idyllic setting but easy to find. Good views and wildlife. The host is friendly and helpful. The guest lounge is very welcoming with an open fire lots of books.

visited in juli 2019 when they were still on the mount pleasant (beautiful rural environment, but it was easy for public transport.) I hope to try the new central location. I enjoyed the nice choice of breakfast. all I tried were delicious, but I especially enjoyed the hearty pancakes. Ver carta

we were finally in the mai 2021 at the loaf after covid visited our 2020 delayed. it is a beautiful place in a great location near the city, but very peaceful with magnificent view from the garden. there is a lot of space inside and everything was really comfortable. karen was very welcoming with many hints and tips for the local environment. the breakfast was great and we enjoyed everything we tried. it felt good to be somewhere that is 100% vegan and we would definitely recommend a visit.

My mum and I went along to Loaf for an afternoon teas event as neither of us are vegan and were interested in trying something new. Karen was extremely welcoming and we sat in the conservatory, watching all the wildlife in the garden, and having a friendly chat. It was very relaxing and we were able to enjoy beautiful views across the countryside. I was impressed with the menu as there was a wide variety of sweet and savory options and it took me a while to decide what to have. Mum had fruit cake and I had dark chocolate cheesecake and we both had berry smoothies. Everything was delicious! The cheesecake came with vegan ice cream and I would never have guessed it was diary free. We were able...

We were sad that we could only spend one night at Loaf. The owners were so welcoming and lovely, they have created a beautiful haven. The comfortable room was done perfectly despite being on the small side, and we appreciated the fact that all the (very good quality) furniture and fittings were reclaimed or recycled. The views looked out onto the gardens, replete with bird feeders and snowdrops. Oh and Karen had left us not only baked goodies, but generously a book as well (we hadn't realised it was Book Giving Week). The shared bathroom was huge and well equipped. Breakfast was utterly delicious (I had a stack of filled savoury pancakes with too many ingredients to list, my other half had a... Ver carta

I have been eyeing a stay at Loaf B&B for over a year and finally managed to find the time to book a 2 night stay there this summer. While it seems also easily reachable with public transportation we were there with our own car. We were warmly welcomed by Mike and Karen. After shown to our gorgeous room with ensuite bathroom we were served a tasty vegan welcome treat to get us settled. The room was very tastefully and thoughtfully furnished and made us feel welcome, comfortable and at home right away. Karen expertly informed us of all the sights, things to do and vegan places in town and closeby. They also provide a wide array of flyers and tourist information in case one is not yet sure wha...

I spent six nights at Loaf B&B and thoroughly enjoyed the whole stay. The house is beautifully decorated. The en-suite bedroom is spacious and cosy. In the bathroom there is a powerful shower, and even a large corner bath tub to relax in after a long day out walking in the wonderful Northumbrian countryside. I lit the candles that had been provided and while bathing enjoyed one of the Famous Five books that I found in the room. The food is, naturally, completely vegan and I loved everything I tried. I had breakfast and dinner at the B&B every day and had the full veggie breakfast with beans, tempeh, scrambled tofu with greens, mushrooms, tomatoes and the lovely tomato-couscous-sausages (Kare...

"Absolutely terrible! We were partly to blame for not recognizing the warning signs and continuing to order at this 'restaurant', despite all indications that it would be a bad experience. Even the lady at the lovely B&B where we were staying tried to warn us. When we mentioned we had booked a table at the Queens Head for dinner, she looked surprised and mentioned that if we didn't like anything on the menu, they could always make us sausage and chips. That should have been warning sign number one! We had booked a table based on the promise of 'quality' food and a fine dining experience, but when we arrived, the waitress seemed uninterested, didn't acknowledge our booking, and didn't even ask for our name. She directed us to a table with a chair practically on top of a fire hydrant and asked if it would be suitable. Warning sign number two! The laminated menu on our table had photos of cheap 'sharing nibble plates' for £2.50, and the rest of the menu consisted mainly of dirty fries and nachos. Warning sign number three! The waitress was clueless about the menu and unhelpful when we asked questions. When we asked about the chicken curry, she simply said it was 'just chicken' and when asked about side dishes, she just said 'vegetables'. When we asked what kind of vegetables, she gave us a confused shrug and said, 'they are just vegetables!' Warning sign number four! The carrot and coriander soup was the best dish we had, but the Salmon and Dill Fish cake starter was obviously a cheap frozen fish cake fried to death with a grey, fishless middle. The Vegetable Curry was flavorless and served so hot it was almost boiling, with a side of dry white rice. The Chicken Breast was cooked decently but served on slightly raw potato stacks. Most of the food seemed reheated. To top it off, the prices were astronomical - £10.95 for the fish cake starter, £23.95 for the chicken, and £17.95 for the curry - all steep prices for such poor quality food. We didn't stay for dessert. The bill came to nearly £70 for 2 courses and 2 drinks, which was the final insult. Not one waitress checked on our food, and when I left half of my main course untouched, she abruptly asked if I was finished and cleared our plates. Don't be fooled by the website promising a top-quality experience - steer clear of this place."
