"On Wednesday, 30/11/22, three local middle-aged pescatarian men celebrated a birthday by going out for lunch at Madras, a Sri-Lankan/South Indian restaurant in Lewisham. They had been to the restaurant before when it was known as The Green Cabin. The restaurant had a few faded decorations and furniture, but the food was always tasty and reasonably priced. They arrived around 13:40 and found the restaurant nearly empty, so they chose a table by the window in the hopes of attracting more customers. The menu offered a mix of traditional Indian and South Indian dishes, and they decided to skip alcohol and order lassis instead. They were cautious about ordering too much due to the spiciness of the food. Throughout their meal, they noticed several delivery couriers coming in and out. A family arrived later on, but the restaurant remained relatively quiet. One of the men accidentally ordered a mixed Thali, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise with a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes. They also ordered a Mutton Masala Dosai and some side dishes to share. The food was spicy but delicious, and they managed to finish everything without needing a doggy bag. The bill came to a reasonable £50.90, and they left a £5 tip before heading out into the streets of Lewisham, happy and satisfied."

The food was tasty and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was positive with nice music playing. Definitely the best food in town.

The man who answers the phone on this restaurant is an extremely rude and disrespectful man. He has so much attitude as if you are doing him a favour by ordering the food, He will insult you more if you are a woman and that too Indian. The owners of this restaurant need to look into this man's behaviour if they want to stop losing customers thank you

One star for delivering on time. This was the most disgusting Indian food I’ve ever ordered. The prawn curry and veg curry were watery and the prawns tough. The naan bread was undercooked. The bhajis were so oily they were awful. The poppadoms were soft. The medhu vada was tasteless. The masala dosa tasted old. Vegetable samosa was undercooked. The fish tikka was hard. It was all inedible and went into the bin. What a waste of £42! Ver carta

I've had a nightmare with this place the last two times I've ordered. The first, the order took one hour and forty five minutes to arrive. they didn't apologise or offer any discount. The second,I ordered via their website after creating an account. After 1 hour 30 mins I rang up to find out where the food was.they said they don't accept inline orders, despite there being a function on their website to order. Again, no apology. just indifference. The food is ok but NOT worth this. AVOID.

We were at the restaurant on Sunday at 12.30pm for lunch and the chef came to take the order !!! There was no one else. He spoke basic English so couldn 't tell us more about the menu. He looked at us as if why did you come so early? The food is very very Oily. Not for people with cholesterol...don 't go here!!! Lump rice was very tasty. The menu said £7, yet in the bill it was £9. When I questioned, the Romanian lady said price changed. Menu is wrong When I was paying with my card, the Romanian lady said again No card machine today, you walk 5 minutes to ATM so I had to do that in the rain. Wish they told me before I ordered !!!! Stupid Service!!!

The food at Madras is awesome. This is not a looker, and perhaps I would rethink eating here, but the food, oh the food! is amazing! Order takeaway, and you'll be rewarded with a rather delicious meal. Madras serves the best Aubergine curry in town, and an all time favourite of mine. This is, hands down, the best, the one and only, the ultimate Aubergine curry. I still haven't come across a better one. Other delicacies I always enjoys are onion bhajis (moerish and fried to perfection, they can induce euphoria), chicken tikka (oh the creamy sauce) and chicken Jalfrezi. Personally, as a non Indian, I find Madras to be the best Indian restaurant in London. Ver carta

As we sat on the table and I ask for a high chair he says to me not to mess the floor and the table. That is too rude. He also says I mess the floor all the time. FYI every time I visit I ensure I pick up crumbs from the floor. So this was pretty offensive to me. I ask to speak to the manager. This guy has never been pleasant anyway. I have always felt his lack of welcoming when we got to eat but I took it as his personality. This is beyond acceptable that he tells me to leave. He pretends to talk on the phone because he cannot face a customer. It got on my nerves and I told him off without swearing so far. But he gives me the finger and walks into the kitchen I am raged. I am shouting with...

I had a terrible experience at MADRAS RESTAURANT last week, making it one of the worst I've ever had. I ordered chicken vindaloo and rice for takeaway and found a dead fly in my food halfway through eating. I threw the food away without taking a photo, which was a mistake. When I returned to the restaurant to express my concerns about health and safety, the receptionist was rude and unprofessional. She insisted on proof, despite my explanation that I didn't want a refund but wanted to prevent this from happening to others. The staff showed no concern or apologies, and the receptionist even forbade me from taking a video. It was disappointing to see their lack of care for customer safety. Des...

"my friend and I went to capitulate for dinner to celebrate his birthday, as was capitula, we thought the only decent restaurant in blackheath. all the others seem to be pushing down quickly. we have been in the past often in the capitulas, and the food and services were good we had no appetizers and ordered only one main meal (black foam and black bell), because we were not huge hungry because we were eating a lot of birthday cakes earlier! we had a glass of wine and were offered a piece of bread. 35 minutes later we waited for our food. in this time no one came to ask if we were in order or offer us more drinks. I asked the manager if our food was ready. he said it would be 5 minutes without a statement of delay then disappeared 10 minutes later there was no sign of food or manager. That is why we decided to go because we lost interest in eating. we have to go and the manager came by. he told us the delay was due to a big party in the ground floor. this was not the case, there was a group of 8 people who had finished their meal for a long time. we were there earlier when it was much more business and the service was not so bad. while we waited, we saw a customer who had finished their meal, slipped £20 into the manager hand when he left. Perhaps the workers need bribe to provide good services? it is such a scandal, but another blackheath restaurant has become complicit and believes that it with the treatment of its customers without respect. I will vote for one with my feet and will not eat again in this restaurant. I will also leave everyone I don't know to go there"

"4/1/22 we three medium-age pescatarians decided on a laune for a quiet meal before place. we wanted something so decided against the excellent fera and chose a restaurant that we had eaten a Sunday midday buffet earlier (but I never looked it over when we came too late and they were dressing some years ago, my fault). when I was young, raised in the 70s, lee high road was famous as for its many Indian and bangladesch restaurants my first curry was a phal further along, thanks to my big brother who introduced me and bombay abe! we looked up their website menu and phoned at 7:30 to book for 9 o'clock and arrived on time to find a modern but completely empty restaurant (it was finally a Tuesday in covid times). the waiter saw us on our bare table with linen napkins and offered us the menu. because the place was empty (with a few food cure coming and going so that they have traded) had the waiter time to explain the menu. it was different and tempting and we chose a lot of directed who ask a few to be spicier than normal. we ordered the well-deserved beer (including a gurkha beer) as the wee were a little out of our league and I would not drink any wine with curry (we never made in indies! we chat a lot and the owner came to join us. we talked about ingredients (asafoetida etc.) and our travel in tamil nadu and chettinad cuisine. in the corner of the room was a picture of joanna lumley with the chef, who was over a sheck. they do much for the next love and serve the needy in lockdown as well as them. we did not notice paying a bit more than average for the dishes than result. we have rarely started, but they looked so tempting that we chose to share the scallops 8.50) and samosas 4.95). we have also chosen the most important courses and pages. in good time the appetizers came and they were beautifully presented with drizzled and lubricated sauces (how is the style today,) hot and tasty! the samosas were only two, but quite large, such a good introduction. the most important courses and sides came together and were also well presented and spided hot. the malabar fish 14.95) was very tasty and very well dimensioned. the thimi vegetable of my friend 10.95) he also found delicious, stuffed with fresh ingredients. the paneer lababdar 10.95 of our friend was also generous and tasty. we have tasted and agreed the dishes of others and our time to eat it, to enjoy every mouth. the accompanying mushroom rice 3.95,) tandoori roti 2.50,) dal makhani 5.50,) amilo piro brinjal 5.50) and say mushroom 5.50) were small portions but well flavored. quality not quantity! during the re-conversation with the owner I have brought to the expression that I thought that her next contest of the babur was a few miles away in honor oak, but there was a sweet one to the (more expensive but well established 30 years ago) two of us were there at his opening night baburs that none of us liked. we have preferred this restaurant in lee. Obviously more people in the house would have helped with the atmosphere and I am sure it is busy with people from blackheath. we ordered the bill and it came with an automatic 10% service fee (regardlessly) at 105. it is more than we pay in the rule, but it seems quite standard nowadays for three people. we left happy and sat at 10:35 o'clock."
