"If you're looking for a family run pub that serves home made food the Malt shovel Inn is the place for you, even when I am on a diet I never seem to be able to resist Jo's sweet treats and quiche which is fantastic!!! .I want to urge anyone who reads the bad reviews to ignore them as in my opinion the Malt Shovel is more welcoming than virtually all of the pubs I have been in recently- I have also never experienced rude staff nor people at the bar waiting endlessly for drinks. Quite the contrary actually and you find most people drinking in there are repeat visitors!! Jo and AJ the owners are often behind the bar which is great and have really turned the place around since taking over, now putting on quiz nights and live music for us all to enjoy. If your looking for a Gourmet pub or one that re-heats mass produced food then this pub isn't for you but if you are just looking for a little local pub that serves great reasonably priced food and a good pint that I would definitely give it a go!!"

Popped in for a lunchtime feel. Marstones pub so Pedigree is great. I had their curry special of the day and my wife has the omelette. Good honest food. We were tempted by the cornish ice-cream so that rounded off the meal.Very good service.

This is a unique experience, like turning the clock back to how traditional British pubs used to be before the big chains became dominant. No piped music. No gaming machines. No computer-screen order taking. Fantastic real ale and excellent home-cooked food. The menu is simple, traditional and great value. This pub is a credit to the landlord and landlady.

Called in for lunch on a cold wet Monday. Pleasant room but cold real fire not lit which would have made a real difference. Only 4 people in the whole time we were there clearly a pub for older clientele. Meals were fine basic pub grub and very reasonable. Landlord polite and pub very clean. Possibly more atmosphere at night. Good range of beers. Would call again if in the area

Have used this Pub on and off for many years, through successive landlords/publicans. It has always been a good beer destination with beers from Marston's/Banks's. Public bar is basic and dog friendly. Lounge smarter and carpeted throughout. Never had food here apart from crisps and a buffet once at a private function. Brad and Marg have re-vitalized the place since their arrival and it is as busy as it's ever been.

We just popped in this pub as we were passing and found it to be a lovely old fashioned pub with a lovely friendly landlady and pleasant staff. We only had a snack meal of home made quiche and salad and it was absolutely delicious. A fairly simple menu at very reasonable prices. My only complaint would be that they don't serve food at the weekends and I would have loved to go back there on the Saturday before we came home to Essex!

A good friendly local pub! Thank you guys! We’ll come again soonThe malt shovel has parking and is a quiet road which can be used tooAt this time of year the garden and hanging baskets are really coming to life making it so attractiveKitchen staff are efficient and most friendly, bringing doggie treats and water bowl for Chester the Labrador The garden has many pub style benches and tables, set in the small space with picket fence!Bar staff serve quickly, I wish there was time to visit more often, I live about five mins walk away!Winter visits are so cosy with the log fire to warm us up after a dog walk

"we wanted to visit the midlands and family for the first time since Christmas and in the frame of the visit I decided that we would take my mother for a nice Sunday dinner. she lives in telford and I am not familiar with the contrary so that I am on tripadvisor for ideas. I mean, I was looking for restaurants in Telford and sorted by rating; clays of broseley was the best from the list and that was what I booked. it is about a minute drive from my mother place through a beautiful shropshire landscape. we arrived in broseley a little early and found a parking space right in front of the restaurant. we were invited to take place on the terrace while they opened and had some drinks. I had a fantastic homemade limonade with glittering water, my mother had a Rhabarb juice that was so delicious that we were strolling home with us and my wife had a very nice pot tee. we had booked a table that had been placed in the restaurant for us, but we were offered the table on the terrace for lunch, which we liked to accept as the weather was perfect. we all ordered from the midday card, which for two courses and for three courses was a fantastic bargain. I ordered salmon and hake meatcakes with delicate brokolli, spargas and a white wine sauce and my wife and mother both ordered the beef Sirloin roast dinner. I was so impressed with eating. honestly, this restaurant lives up to all reviews. the ingredients were fresh and tasty and not refined as they get some places. to dessert my mother and I both had the rhubarb and custard' and playful plate that rhubarb compott, gelee, vanilla cream and small mygues combined crazy. the perfect end for every afternoon. during the meal were the employees (I'm sorry to say that I didn't get their names) attentive and friendly. our month old sohn, henry, has a stinking cold and has teethed, so was not on his best behavior, but the staff was fantastic with him. They even went so far that they broke out one of their dogs, a beautiful, huge dog called barney, for henry's entertainment. to cover everything, and this is great for parents of small children, they had a full baby change unit, complete with diapers, wipes and unhappy bags! I can honestly say I've never seen this before. all in all, for three nets, two desserts and drinks, the bill came less than unnecessary to say, I intend to visit again when we are close. I really can't wait."
