"On holiday nearby and another quick trip into Moffat to see what we could find in the way of good coffee and child pleasing lunch. Ice cream milkshakes of vanilla, and most of all salted caramel and the oreo versions were favourites and drew comments from our table about how we must come back. Black Americano was divine best coffee in town, so says the sign outside and indeed the best coffee I've had in a long while. Lunch wise BLT panini and smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast for the adults, plentiful tuna mayo on bloomer and tuna and cheddar panini for the kids great value for money and the staff were incredible child friendly, not too intrusive, respectful and were good enough to box/takeaway cup up stuff that bigger eyes than tummies could manage. Look no further see you soon Ariete x"

I highly recommend this charming, traditional cafe with excellent service and a wide selection of food and drinks. The Ecclefechan tart is a must-try!

We had the big breakfast sustained us all the way back to London. Perfectly cooked with good quality haggis, Lorne, bacon. Staff were friendly and very efficient in such a busy cafe.

Love this place. We had Sunday breakfast there, one standard traditional breakfast and one mini traditional breakfast, both were excellent. Nicely cooked quality ingredients, not full of grease.

This is a great wee cafe in Moffat. Almost always busy because of its reputation for friendliness and good, wholesome food. The staff are young, and are helpful and kind! Food ... we'll prepared and decent quantities. Ver carta

Called in for mid-morning coffee and it was pleasing to see the establishment was busy. Coffee was served quickly and was good, so no issues there. Recommended to pop in for a drink and/or snack if you are in the area.

We enjoyed our visit for coffee and breakfast sandwiches. The Italian coffee was fantastic, and the crispy bacon fried egg breakfast roll was delicious. The service was friendly and the place was filled with locals, a sure sign of a great spot!

Just called in on my drive back to England as I was falling asleep at the wheel, the cafe was near to closing time, but they still welcomed me. The young man who served me was brilliant, really had a personal to his service. The ginger and pear tea was rather delicious too. Ver carta

This little cafe is absolutely brilliant. We use it every time we go to Moffat on our way to Wales and to Gretna shopping outlet. The staff are amazing, very friendly and efficient. The food is really tasty. We have had quite a few dishes, and each one was fantastic. I would definitely recommend Cafe Ariete.

Whenever we travel through Scotland, we always make sure to stop at this café in Moffat for lunch. They never fail to satisfy our appetites and it has become a family favorite that we eagerly anticipate. The service is fast, the staff is friendly and they even remember us from previous visits. The café is always buzzing with customers, which is well-deserved as they provide great service. I highly recommend trying their hot chocolate with cream.

"Visiting Port Patrick again today we thought we would try a new place to eat. We normally eat at the same place here but today with chose the Crown Hotel. When you walk into the crown you see how old it is and I must admit it looks quant but a little dated. After finding a seat and deciding what to eat I went to the bar to order food and drinks. The service from the member of staff were pleasant and welcoming. We ordered 2 cokes and 2 stake and ale in a pudding one with chips and one with baby potatoes. We were charged a few pence short of £39 and given 2 cans of coke and asked would we like a glass with them? £4.80 for 2 cans of coke) Going back to the table I sat down and within less than 5 minutes our food was there on our table. I always worry when the food is so quick as I never feel it properly prepared fresh for you and when you are paying £17 a meal you at least want something fresh-ish. WHAT REALLY ANNOYED ME was while we were eating our food people were bringing dogs into the bar past our table to talk to a guy sat next to us. Chatting away these dogs were just sat by our feet as we ate. No one seemed to care about these dogs brushing up against people eating a meal. The food The baby potatoes were ok, the pudding was a frozen one you would get from a supermarket, the veg was hard, the meat was dry and bland and the gravy tasteless. I would say this food was a preprepared meal and just placed into a microwave. I don’t like to be so blunt in my reviews as this is always someone’s business and livelihood was are talking about, but this really was that bad. The service during the meal was none existent. When the waitress came to take our plates she did not seem surprised when I complained about our food, saying only I’ll pass it on. No apologies or anything. Even with me saying the food was especially the veg was disgusting. It was like water off a ducks back. Will I eat here again NO sadly the service and the food was very poor."

"For some reason I can not reply to your answer. Sadly you are absolutely wrong in everything you have stated, I find your tactic of attacking people who give less than 5 star reviews. I am not going to try to defend myself, as I stand by everything I said. I have made an appointment to see a solicitor about your untruthful comments. I would really of liked to put a good review up, however, I would not recommend this hovel to my worst enemy. Firstly the room was so small, and tatty, extremely dated with an alarm clock, which surely has been taken from a chalet from Pontins in the 1970s, that even the amazing view could not compensate. There was dog meat/food on the carpet, and I assume ash. When I went to look for someone to let them know, there was no one about. The bathroom was not fit for purpose, one as it was a converted cupboard, and the notice in the room explaining that the steam from the shower which was cracked set off the sensitive smoke alarm, so you could not even have a shower. Then when we went for breakfast, after waiting for 40 minutes for a breakfast which was a 1 sausage, a piece of streaky bacon, uncooked tomatoes and mushrooms, haggis, b pudding and beans. When I went to complain about this on the way out, I had the pleasure of speaking to someone called Donna, who was at best obnoxious, and as unhelpful as it was someone else 's fault, I quote I don 't clean the rooms, I don 't cook the breakfast . I would rather sleep in a tent than give money to this place, please look elsewhere, unless you want to feel as though you are being ripped off. In response to your reply I thankyou for it. I do not deny that I was irate, and if she cried, I feel terrible about that but I have also left things out, like the denial of the previous evenings attempt with the same lady about the state of the room, however I stand by everything I said, As you are true to form, as it never ever seems to be your fault, if you look at the previous low reviews, it is always someone else 's fault. Oh by the way breakfast took 40 minutes, and as you were not there, maybe you can check CCTV and see that the uncooked food was left, as was the haggis, however the toast provided was superb. I applaud your defense of your staff, I truly do. Hopefully you can maybe if you get another less than favourable review, see that it is the same points over and over again, and try to address them points, just a thought. Thanks again for your reply below, and I stand by everything I said, and truly can 't be bothered dissecting your reply, one slight point, I have witnesses about the night before, so I take with a pinch of salt, your comments"

"Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future."
