"This is a lovely country pub offering very good attentive service and an interesting menu. We had lunch there and stayed 2 nights having returned from Northumberland. The room was excellent well appointed with a comfortable bed. It’s such a sadness that the pub has now closed. The proprietor was very engaging as were his staff. We wish them well in the future and hope they return to the hospitality industry sometime. Rooms: The quality of the fittings, toiletries and the upmarket feel about the room. Quality shower and bath. Walkability: Very rural with good access to footpaths . Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury"

Good food, friendly staff, at least three different ales well kept. You do pay for the quality of the food. A pleasant touch is a bottle of water to accompany your eating and drinking.

SAVE THIS PUB. GREAT PUB GREAT ATMOSPHERE GREAT LOCATION. Is a victim of rising utility prices and Cost of living. Shame as is always busy and a great place to visit Walkability: Is near great walks and has amazing views. Wheelchair friendly. Food drinks: Great food selection brilliantly served. The lovely waitress was amazing. Went out of her own way to accommodate us. I had severe heart burn on the night and she looked around for some medicine and recommended to use ginger beer (never knew this) eased my burn and went home happy and full. Only downside was the night we were staying no evening meals but sister hotel 5 minutes away solved that. Staff really nice, pity it goes on the market soon here's hoping somebody buys it and keeps it running. Rooms: Comfortable king size bed, tea and coffee making facilities( netspresso machine for comfy) with some nice biscuits Food drinks: 3 real ales on tap, continental breakfast. Their small room is actually very decent for us a toddler. Clean comfortable. Amenities are modern, pillows are fluffy, the rustic radio is a nice touch. Restaurant is lovely, dining area bar, very busy so definitely book ahead. Food very well presented and fairly priced, my 2yo loves their sausage. Service from 2 young men Jane the owner was spot on, friendly and helpful. Such good hospitality food out in the countryside!!
