its atmosphere is special you move centuries ago, it is always visited by travelers from all over the world, the food is good, the sausages and cheeses cut your own at discretion, the wine serves it in jars directly from the barrel. it is accompanied with typical music. all for a fairly acceptable fixed price

This place was a complete hoot. The fun atmosphere complete with the staff in Nordic helmets complete with horns and a sort of castle like set of interconnecting rooms complemented the meal. We had steaks, chicken, and even boar sausage. It was all nicely prepared...and very tasty. A fun, reasonably priced, nice meal. Quirky fun dining.

This restaurant has the feeling of a medieval cave. Big tables, wine poured from a cask and strolling musicians. The food is very average, but the restaurant has a following as a fun family style place to go with a lively environment. I was years ago as a college student and remembered it, so had to bring our college age boys there for dinner. They definitely enjoyed it! Ver carta

In real Pre-Roman times, the Gauls celtic tribes wich inhabited today's France never wore Viking Helmets and horns, that is rather a Disney like invention. But it seems true that the Gauls used to drink and eat a lot. So, if you wanna...have a true Gaul experience, or simply love food by the quantity and wine by the bottle instead of glass, this is YOUR PLACE. The building is centuries old, the staff is funny, the food is good ... not exactly gourmet, but after so much wine, no one would notice either. Relax, and be a true OBELIX for one day.

From the very start with its little green door that leads into a huge converted barn this a great experience. The Asterix attired waiting staff are attentive and the first course is a basket of mixed salad and you then help yourself from the meat...stations situated around the restaurant. The wine is on tap and again you help yourself from the various wine stations. Whenever I have been in the past each table starts a singsong at the end of the evening, last time one particular table broke out with “On Ilkley Moor Ba’tat” When I approached them I discovered they were actually Dutch. Great atmosphere with jovial camaraderie and good food.

Have same opinions as previous customer my wife and i visited on a Saturday evening very quiet with the front half of the restaurant closed in past visits this was a hive of activity with your food cooked beside you .The food itself was typical...for the theme unfortunately the steak i had was tasteless and very tough with some re-chauffed cold potatoes and vegetables very disappointing the entertainment was OK but in past more musicians involved the price charged also did not reflect on the quality expensive for what was on offer.The restaurant is more suited to large parties out for a stag or hen do where the food is not that important. My beautiful wife and i were looking forward to this establishment for some fun and theatre along with some hearty food. Located across the street from our hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly ans promptly seated. The ambiance was good and reasonably well themed...in medieval props and decor. The waiter in costume was helpful and courteous. That's about it. The food was just ok, the fun and entertainment was nowhere to be seen. Being a Sunday night it appears low customer numbers equal none of the above. This place was just so gorgeous for its atmosphere, the table is nicely adorned by fresh veggies, and hanging sausages, beer drum, viking costume on (handsome) guys... but that's all! Nothing more!! The fresh veggie salad on the table..we are supposed to make our own...salad with those veggie... Those uncut, just washed veggie...whole carrot, lemon, salary, cabbage, cucumber.....errr..I don't cfancy those Self-making-whole-veggie-salad-without-dressing : can do this at home.
