Our experience was rather different from that of some earlier reviewers. We were made very welcome; the service was attentive, but not too much so. Good and varied local food: so good that we went twice.

tipica trattoria rivisitata dai gamberetti rossi con un gambero situato nel cuore del Greco del Salento. Posizione ben allestita, con tipici tempi stellari molto caratteristici. Menù esaustivo con piatti locali ben eseguiti. Personale cordiale e preparato. Prezzi standard. In estate è possibile cenare fuori nel giardino esterno. Tornerei.

very nice restaurant when they are in the region Lecce/Salento. great fish selection and the owner cook brought his selection on a teller before we ordered. some very nice local pasta dishes if they are not a fish eater. service was very good of 2 waitresses, pleasant. external seat rear. drink them beforehand in the dachbar in the castello.

se sei qui, non perdere l'esperienza di questo ristorante! cucina tradizionale con ingredienti freschi in un ambiente ben curato. il giardino interno è un piccolo paradiso. Ho mangiato molto bene e ho passato il diritto. mappa dei vini folli come il pesce della giornata, pesce fresco. gamberi di gallilico da non perdere, ma anche specialità grigliate. tutto il personale perfetto, accogliente e sempre cordiale. We ate lunch here today after reading some good trip advisor reviews. We can echo the previous comments that the owner is nice and friendly, he tolerated our poor Italian and made us feel welcome. We had the antipasti misti for a starter which was...a really tasty mix of various small starters. I told him I was vegetarian 'sono vegetariano so he made it without meat or fish for us. We then had 2 pasta dishes that were very nice too. Probably the nicest meal we've had on our holiday so far, having spent time in Rome, Lecce and Otranto. Definitely recommended.

the antipasti were simply delicious. the potato sticks with pecorino cheese melted in our mouth. the otopus spheres were also great, as were the alici fish with lemon and the caramelized wobble. the house wine was delicious and not very expensive. we ordered melanzani. with melanzani and brot and cheese a dream! and mixed grilled seafood that was simply amazing! so good! many different seafoods all great. the only minus was the desert (profiteroles), which was an unusual take in the classic dessert and did not meet the standards of the previous dishes. we sat in the garden. the atmosphere was great, just as if taken out of an Italian film. the host was really nice and answered all our asking...

Literally translated in italian, but coincidentally, in Greek meaning All Good.I must say, based on this visit, that Old Kalo is a real find. On arrival, you're struck by the clash of old and new, the contemporary signage on an osteria that could't feel more...traditional.
