"Being a frequent traveller to Italy, I must say this was my worst culinary experience. As I cannot imagine the courses we had were prepared or approved by a professional chef, I think guests should be informed about this. I had the acciughe as a starter, which were simple pickled fishes from the glass, served with too many tasteless fried pieces of potato mash. All in all without any salt, spices or idea. The main was unfortunately not eatable: beef tartar served as a lump of minced meat lacking anything from salt to spices, served on a strange cookie-like crumble, some dried tomatoes, a tasteless white sauce on top (bechamel?! and some potato chips as well without any salt. All the dishes my wife and myself were ordering had the same hard to define greenish sauce painted over the plates. The service was not unfriendly but also could not save the impression. I got offered a beer upon my complaint. Apologies for the direct feedback, however I was really surprized to make such a low quality eating experience in the country with the best kitchenn in the world. The spot in the little green courtyard is very nice and I hope you can improve your dishes and services in the future!"

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Genoa. The food is excellent, with vegan and vegetarian options, and a good wine list. Location is perfect and the outdoor dining area is nice and well sheltered. Interior areas are small but very intriguing and interestingly decorated.

Beautiful ambiance and setting, cozy and romantic. We had the tagliere degustazione di torte salate, the baccalá and the filetto di maiale with mashed potatoes. The fish seemed a bit dry and the mashed potatoes were interestingly prepared with an outside crust. But all in all, a very nice place Ver carta

This place has great food. The only problem I had was them not having an English menu. However the waitress did brought us the Italian English dictionary to help us making up our mind. She helped going over the menu trying to explain to the best possible. They don't have chicken or pizza so I get to try and taste something new : We ordered pork and octopus, which is pretty good we like it.

We arrived unannounced and late in the evening at Ombré Rosse. Hungry and a bit impatient, we couldn’t have been met with friendlier and more helpful staff. The offered us drinks and some bread while we waited for a table in their lovely outdoor seating area, and checked up on us at regular intervals. Food was amazing. We can personally recommend the low temperature cooked beef medallion, which was for the lack of words exquisite! The servers wine recommendations of both red and white local wine hit the spot. We cannot recommend this place enough. It’s a must visit for anyone visiting Genoa.

"Staying at the Hotel Bristol Palace we also went for dinner to its restaurant 'Giotto '. We had made a reservation for 7.30pm, when it opens. Being alone at the beginning the head waiter and his assistant had plenty of time for us, giving us all kind of information. They were both very friendly and professional during the whole evening. We also liked the atmosphere of the elegant Art Nouveau dining hall with frescoes, also on the ceiling, with real flowers in pots and with white tablecloth. From the menu card with descriptions in Italian, English and French we saw that they offer plenty of Ligurian specialities. So as antipasto I went for a 'Cima Genovese ', a very typical dish, one doesn 't encounter too often, since it involves a lot of work. It is a veal belly, stuffed with varying ingredients like eggs, intestines, cheese, vegetables. It was served cold and in slices, all covered with lettuce salad. On the side was 'Salsa verde ', also typical for Genoa, but with the main ingredient not basil as in the pesto, but parsley. My wife instead had as an antipasto a 'Scrigno di Patata nell ' Orto d 'Inverno con Fonduta di Parmiggiano ' and as a main course a 'Polpo rosticiado con su crema di Patate allo Zafferano '. My second plate was the 'Catch of the Day ' alla Ligure, a piece of fresh fish with potatoes and pine nuts. To drink we he had ordered a Ligurian white wine, a Vermentino DOC Colli di Luni, bottled for the Hotel Bristol Palace. As dessert the choice of my wife was Ice Cream, while I went for a 'Tortino morbido al Cioccolato, Panna montata al Cardamomo e Salsa ai Frutti di Bosco '. We finished the superb dinner with Espresso and when I asked for a 'Grappa ' as local as possible, the head waiter said that he has something special for me, an 'A me Rappa '. When I gave some of it to my wife to taste, she said: 'This is a ladies ' grappa '. It is a locally produced Grappa from Bianchetta Genovese grapes flavoured with honey. Thus ended a wonderful evening in one of our favourite hotels in Italy."
