"So it’s august and hot here of course. Apparently I needed to tick a box on the fork website to get an outside table. .we asked for one ..you know when someone is faking being helpful..yup anyway .. “Inside is air con” Sat in a hot room, near the kitchen, with air conditioning that couldn’t be improved for us.. Ordered some wine..yup that was hot too! Not sure they cared until h about that either really. We have been in the area all this week. This was the worst meal. Why? It’s trying very hard to be different and making a mess of it..trying to be different is great but it’s not successful. Risotto with raw prawns doesn’t work..the arborio was too stodgy. Raw prawns don’t work..both in texture and taste with the risotto..too much lemon ..again why? The steak was poor quality..bad choice from me but just fancied a steak and chips with primitivo and chips were soggy..(cooked in olive oil..wow..how new and exciting…and yet utter rubbish…but when I cook potatoes in olive oil they crisp up… Bread was excellent.. Had to sit in the car between courses and couldn’t wait to leave. 137 ish euros. Wish we had been at il bastione as we were yesterday..that was faultless. This isn’t."

"local Salento, located in a small alley, courteous staff but, slow in service and a little confused in the comande. Menù, purely Apulian with traditional dishes, the great pugliese appetizer with small quite good goats but the eggplant of cold eggplants, good instead the swordfish carpaccio with jam and frittini. excellent pici with parmesan cream served in the characteristic form. while the linguini to the ricci insapori and with very little curl. ears at the top of the turnip with anchovies not commentary, second fried of normal calamari, while the carpaccio squid calamari well grilled, with contour of potatoes, served cold wing. sweet, good bread with English cream. prices in the norm, you could however improve in the goto of some dishes, and painful note the dishes must be served all together and not to spicy. ?"

"We are Dutch,live in Salento and are used to the good Salento cuisine. On a recent little trip to Gallipoli, through Alezio, we stopped at this Osteria-Trattoria. Were we in for a pleasant surprise. One of the owners (Emanuele) welcomed us and let us choose a table.Service was excellent and efficient. but also warm and friendly. When we looked at the menu and the wine list we wondered how the food would be at those low prices: EXCELLENT: We ordered several dishes and enjoyed each one. Emanuele stopped by our table and we chatted about the the restaurant, the service and the quality of the real Salento food served. As we said: We will be back. _____________________"

"Abbiamo trovato questa locanda per puro caso avendo voglia della cucina bolognese. Pochi tavoli ma Abbiamo potuto gustare le pietanze tipiche bolognesi che avevamo già avuto la possibilità di mangiare a Bologna. Cucinato con cura, I taglieri affettati e tagliati al momento. Ottime le tagliatelle fatte a mano al ragù tipico, ottimi pure i secondi . Unico neo non specificare il taglio di carne a che animale apparteneva. Ottima la scelta dei vini di cantine locali. Prezzo nella media. La cucina prevede anche altre pietanze salentine. Da ritornare ma sempre a pranzo perchè è una preparazione un po' pesante per la sera."

"Le Macàre è ad Alezio piccolissimo paese nell'entroterra salentino, a pochi km da Gallipoli. C'è un bel dehors esterno una piccola saletta e una sala più grande. Il personale è giovanissimo e frizzante, molto preparato e gentilissimo. La cena inizia con del buonissimo e gustoso pane home made da assaporare con un ottimo olio( nel nostro caso fruttato). Abbiamo ordinato polpette di polpo, carpaccio di manzo, polpette al sugo e crostini con cipolla in agrodolce.....tutto eccezionale!!!! A seguire tre primi orecchiette di grano arso al ragù di verdure, risotto al GAMBERO e spaghetto alle cozze burro e colatura di alici, tutti i sapori perfettamente bilanciati e assolutamente sublimi. Di secondo un controfiletto d'angus, pesce spatola e pollo con le patatine uno più buono dell'altro. Abbiamo concluso con uno spumone home made Macàre sublime, un dolce degno di tutta la cena. Ci ritorneremo sicuramente!!! Bravissimi!!!"
