"I've had good meals here in the past and decided to return with a French friend when we were on an art walk in the 13th Arrondissement. Since I rarely eat much for lunch, I ordered only dim sum -- shrimp dumplings and steamed pork buns -- and disliked both. This is the first Chinese restaurant worldwide where I've had poor shrimp dumplings. They are a dim sum staple and I always order them where dim sum is served. They've ranged from good to excellent elsewhere. Here, I found the wraps to be tough, the shrimp crunchy and the taste strange. An order contains four pieces, but I gave up after eating one and a half. I peeled off the expected paper at the bottom of a bun and took a big bite, only to discover that I had paper in my mouth. Apparently the bun had been steamed, totally encased in paper. I then carefully peeled off the rest of the paper from both buns. Each bun was terribly doughy and the filling mediocre at best.I tried to get our server's attention and then any server's attention to let someone know about the dumplings. They totally ignored me. The only time our waiter came to the table was to take our order and deliver it. When he brought the bill, my friend explained the problem and the waiter just looked at us. There was no language difficulty. The restaurant consists of one big fairly plain room and a small one, with tables close together. Each time I've been there for lunch, I've seen mostly young Asian diners -- perhaps from the nearby university -- often eating soup. The eatery has been closed for renovations recently and now sports a well-maintained look. I hope the quality of my meal is not an indication that, with the restaurant's reopening, all the food has gone downhill."
