"I had the pleasure of visiting La Terraza Tapas Bar in Upton with my kids, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The ambiance was incredibly cozy and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a family outing. The friendly staff added to the welcoming atmosphere, making us feel right at home. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the tapas selection. The steak with chimichurri sauce was a burst of flavors that left us craving for more, and the Tempura prawns were simply delectable. As a first-time visitor, I was thoroughly impressed by the overall experience, and I can confidently say it won't be our last visit. While the prices leaned slightly towards the expensive side, the quality of the food and the cozy ambiance more than made up for it. La Terraza Tapas Bar strikes the perfect balance between a gourmet dining experience and a comfortable family outing. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the restaurant, which is always an important factor for me when choosing a place to dine. All in all, La Terraza Tapas Bar offers a fantastic option for a memorable lunch with family or friends. "Set menu £20 with options to choose. Was nervous it was empty to start with (we ate about 8pm), but very pleasantly surprised the food was lovely! I spoke with who I assume was the owner and asked why so quiet, apparently most of his custom comes from the Chinese students at the uni. Gem found!"

"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."

"It is always a pleasure to visit this wonderful restaurant. Again, a lovely meal was had by all yesterday evening. The food is presented to such a high degree. And the cooking is devine. Finally, it is all served up by such wonderful waitresses. They are all so pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. If I had one criticism it would be that it was a little noisy but then at the time of the booking I was told there would be a private party in the adjoining room. Even the day before our visit a member of staff went out of their way to phone me to point out, once again, about the party. So I can’t complain. How many restaurants would go out of their way to do that? Not many. They would be only too glad to take the booking. I have already booked up again this morning, to celebrate a family birthday in Feb. See you then. Keep up the good work!!!"

"We visited Sophias to celebrate our friends 38th wedding anniversary on Thursday. The venue is clean and the decor reflects the ambience they are trying to create. We ordered from a very friendly and helpful waitress 3 of 'Sophias Mushrooms ' and one lamb Souvlaki. The food was presented well and tasted lovely however I would suggest that the quantity of mushrooms be increased by at least a couple as the mushrooms had all long gone while I was still enjoying the Souvlaki. Mains were Steak Diane, Fillet steak, Cod, and the Pork all cooked to perfection and in quantities that compensated for the smaller starters. Excellent! We all had a desert and the two chocolate mousse was divine, the Creme brulee went down well, the chocolate brownie? is unlikley to be a repeat for the recipient but the cheeseboard for two was outstanding! Service was good throughout. The only lost star is because we were the only diners in at the time which is a shame as it does reduce the ambience and atmosphere. On a plus side we could all hear each other! We will be back again and hope to see others enjoying the food as well."
