"Had a terrible experience. Walked through the door and was greeted by a male employee who said “if you come here again wearing sandals you won’t be permitted entry, I will let you in this once”. I was wearing a shirt, chino shorts and some smart sandals (your CCTV should show this very clearly). I walked past various tables while being seated in the basement with customers who had football tops and was sat next to a male/female couple where the female was wearing the same sandals in white (I asked if she had any comments on entry and she confirmed not). I felt like getting up and leaving, but didn’t want to spoil the meal my partner had booked for us. The male employee returned at end with our £120 bill and said one round of drinks was on them because his colleague said we weren’t happy with how we were treated but reiterated it was restaurant policy, he declined to provide me with a copy of the dress code. There is no dress code on the website or on the reservation email, the female wearing the same sandals was not told she would be denied entry next time. I plan to consult my lawyer on this, as feel there is grounds for discrimination under the Equality Act of 2010. It is perfectly lawful to have a dress code, however that dress code must translate across gender and creed, it is unlawful to discriminate against one over the other."

The Sunday roast isn’t great. Tough, not crispy roast potatoes, bland Yorkshire pudding and fatty beef.

Spot on like always. Nice atmosphere and good value for money. I went for a quick lunch and we had a really good time with nice service and lovely food. Will be back

Wonderful bottomless brunch for my friends birthday. Staff are lovely, smiley, chatty attentive. Food was great Prosecco cocktails went down a treat. Totally recommend for a special event.

Disappointing, very average meal have had better and cheaper in a cheap pub chain. Steak not cooked as asked for, Frozen broccoli. Very poor value for money. Good service and ambience, wouldn’t recommend.

I've had the pleasure to go to Prime Steak St.Albans many times now, and it never failes to impress me. I totally recommend a place where there is a great ambience, polite staff and amazing food. Also not to forget about the cocktails!

It was our second time here but the waiter explained the whole menu. We definitely loved our food choices. Special thanks to the manager Sebastian encouraging a rather higher than normal wine spend. Real skill! and it was delicious! For sure we'll return the next time we are in St.Albans

The staff are lovely , the starters nice , not as nice as other primes but nice the steak sandwich inedible the ciabatta was hard and burned the steak not great and the filling of tomato and lettuce was not the freshest sadly i will not be returning having just moved to the area this would have been our familys go to and meeting friends go to ,,We used the one in beaconsfield al the time and lovely experience food always fantastic ,But ill be giving the stalbans ine a very wide berth absolutley the worst sandwich i have ever had my friend had the same and her ciabatta was rock hard and black lines inside and out dreadful

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with a meal here and loved it. The service staff were very friendly and attentive. The cheese scones on the house were delicious. We both thoroughly enjoyed our mains I had a rib eye which was cooked to perfection and very flavourful, and my wife had the pork chop which she said was great. Would also strongly recommend the shortrib mac and cheese as a side! Great selection of drinks to choose from too and the restaurant kindly wrote our happy anniversary on our dessert. Only slight issue for me was it was quite noisy but it was a busy Friday night so understandable. Would definitely go back.

Disappointing food. Wouldn’t recommend. Our first visit here for an anniversary meal and our expectations were too high. Expecting top end steak but it was average pub grub. Our starters were chewy (pepper squid) which came in a huge paper bag, presentation lacking. Our other starter, scallops came in a pasta bowl and was rather dry. Our main, the sharing tomahawk steak wasn’t cooked as we had asked (medium to marble the fat). It was a really chewy cut of meat. The steak knives we were given were blunt and had to request replacements.
