"We came to visit cleator moor in April for a birthday, we looked for places to eat and we came across this and drove straight past it as we didn't think it looked very inviting from the outside... We have come back a few months later for a return visit and after doing our research decided to try it. We are so glad we did the food is absolutely beautiful, what a gorgeous hidden gem, we liked the food so much the sirloin is amazing) we have come back the next day to eat again before we venture home Sunday. Like I say first impressions from the outside aren't the best, but take the plunge and go in. The staff and the locals are lovely , warm, welcoming and will tell you all the hidden gems regarding walks, places to go. 10/10 from us all round Moral of the story don't judge a pub by its outside appearance. Would rather give our money to small local pubs with amazing food and atmosphere than any big chain pub. We have certainly found our go to pub when we come back to cleator moor."

"We ordered a meat and cheese sharing platter, which was delicious and filling. The main course of sirloin steaks was a bit of a letdown as one steak was not available, and my steak was served cold with some fat still on it. The plates were cold, which affected the temperature of the food. Despite these issues, we enjoyed the meal and the price was reasonable for the amount of food and drinks we had. The restaurant was decorated for Halloween, which we found to be a bit tacky and distracting. Overall, the small details were the reason why we couldn't give it an extra star. With a few tweaks, it could have been a 5-star experience."

"Booked over the phone for a table for 2 on a Sunday afternoon, they happily fitted us in we arrived around 4pm to a very busy little cosy place, they seated us and then we had a little browse of the menu, we had the vagabond feast 12 pizza and a vegetarian Sunday roast with extra potatoes this along with 3 pints of poretti came to £45.50 good value for what we had and a really enjoyable Sunday lunch was had. Staff friendly, atmosphere good a lovely little place a must go in Whitehaven."

"A good selection of food, friendly staff and a sizeable dining area but be prepared for it to be busy! We visited on a Wednesday night and luckily we had booked ahead of time, the place was packed and I couldn’t see any spare tables very surprising but great to see for a midweek evening! The menu here is massive, plenty of choices amongst the many categories there’s definitely something for everyone! Unfortunately we had to wait around 30 minutes for our drinks food order to be taken, we were tucked away in the corner and given how busy it was, a bit of a wait is understandable. Our server was apologetic for the delay and she was very friendly, she also made sure our drinks came straight away to avoid further delay. Food came after around an hour, again a bit of a wait but the conversation and the atmosphere was good so we weren’t overly bothered about the time, like I said it was really busy so it’s understandable! The food came and the portion sizes were great, I went for the peri peri butterfly chicken breast, the chicken was cooked well but it did lack a little in the peri peri seasoning maybe a peri peri dip with this dish would be a nice complement. The chips were lovely and the coleslaw was really good too. I was very full after the meal and didn’t have room for pudding, the cakes in the stand definitely did look good though so I’ll have to make sure I get one next time! Overall, a lovely pub meal in a nice pub/restaurant and I would definitely recommend if you’re in the area! I will just add that the parking isn’t the best, the car park fills up very quickly and you may have to park on the street so keep this in mind if you are visiting during peak hours!"

"I had the wonderful experience of hosting my daughter's christening at The Yellow Earl. From the moment I made the booking until we left on the day of the event, everything was absolutely fantastic. Leading up to the occasion, the staff was very attentive to details and asked all the right questions to ensure that everything met my needs. On the day itself, the service was impressive; they rearranged furniture, helped with decorating the room, served drinks to our guests, and promptly cleaned up after the delicious buffet. The buffet featured a variety of pizza, garlic bread, quiches, and chips, all of which were delicious and abundant enough for everyone. I cannot praise the entire team enough. Thank you so much! I highly recommend them for any parties."
