American Monster Diner

"We voted with the (in the “American Monster” to the diner for the evening bread in Rathenow am Haveltor. The diners developed at the end of the 19th century. Century. Century from the mobile snack bars in the USA. But the idea goes back to a Walter Scott from Rode Island. In 1872, he had set himself in front of the “central” of a provincial newspaper with an old railway car that was converted into the snack, in order to offer the employees simple and cost-effective food, i.e. sandwiches and coffee. The background was that the restaurants in the area had already closed. Unfortunately, since the 1970s, these diners have increasingly been sold through fast food chains such as McD, BK or KFC. Fortunately, we have one or the other. Immediately upon entering the rooms we felt back in the 50s of America. The ambience, the clothes of waiters, the neon light of advertising, the music, everything fits together. Luckily we ordered the store. There was only one table without people sitting around where there was a sign, the sign on the table was reserved for us. If you are lucky, you can also take a place at a table on a red upholstery bench Cadillac. We haven't had it yet. So we take place at our table and look into the well-designed map. As always and from my treasure, I must patiently endure a little time to make me a picture of the offer and to recognize what I want to eat, what I want. The cards and napkin dispensers are centrally located on old black vinyl plates on the tables of the American restaurant. Historically there are sandwiches, but this is not everything, there are also burgers, various finger foods, scavengers, asparagus Ribs, steaks, noodles, chilli and Nacho Con Carne, and of course also a Kids Corner with 4 dishes. My wife flies over the map and immediately knows she wanted the Pulled Pork Burger in monster size. Since I am absolutely no food suspect, the choice of dishes is always a bit harder. In the end, the BBQ Spare Ribs did not leave my mind in the size class “Monster” until the order. One reason for my choice is that I usually do something I don't do at home. The drinks came very fast and the dishes were not allowed to wait long. Our food taste is consistent: “It was simply super delicious, both dishes were excellent.” What really didn't happen to me very often, I was tired before I had eaten. But then I managed the rest, only movement went a little slower and heavier after the visit. Actually, the “American Monster Diner” does not really have to be recommended, it is always fully occupied and booked what is recommended from my point of view. I wanted more visits to the diner here and now when we returned to this corner of Brandenburg. I've been looking for a long time for criticism, so far unsuccessful. I'll take the straw. The absolute crowning, so to speak the cherry on the Sahnetorte, would then be only English speaking young ladies as a waitress. But I dream again... our conclusion: It is almost hopeless, not unauthorized to hope for a table that is released, at least from the early evening. The offer fits AND the food tastes great, so there is the full number of stars."

"Sehr schön gelegene Havelterrasse. Könnte aber gepflegter sein, Abfall auf dem Boden am Tisch. Eingangsbereich und Umfeld äusserst ungepflegt. Service professionell aber nicht einmal bemüht freundlich. Mit Ausschank und Service naturgemäß überfordert, wenn Terrasse gut besucht. Essen: Havelländer Fischtopf "tomatisiert" von der Fischqualität und grundsätzlcher Zubereitung gut. Die Tomatisierung stammte aus der Dose mit entsprechendem Nachgeschmack. Schade für die sonst gute Qualität. Champignon-Schnitzel mit frischen Champignons, aber leider mit Mehlpampe. Schweineschnitzel vom Fleisch gut, aber warum so dick paniert? Bratkartoffel lobenswert. Salatgarnitur mit süßem Dressing. Muss nicht sein.Weinschorle weiß nur im 0,2 L-Glas erhältlich. Der Preis dafür € 4,20 ist schon grenzwertig. Deswegen Licht und Schatten!"

"Before beautiful location and house and that was also the positive thing this evening. One was greeted unkindly, the waiter immediately gave everything in his underground way. The food came fast, but only a star value, because partly zero taste and it was partly cold and in price is really totally covered. The toilets without words partly defect hold disgusting. We never say again and in any case this restaurant is no recommendation value."

"Very stylish and with great attention to detail designed harbour restaurant with chic lounge and terrace overlooking the port and the church. A dedicated pair of guards takes care of the guests and the cook offers good food. I especially recommend his steaks. Grilled to the point delicate and according to the desired cooking level, where only a very thin skin actually with wonderfully roasted flavors (probably sous vide pre-gart). I want to come back. "Wir waren jetzt schon mehrmals in der Alten Schmiede essen und bisher immer sehr zufrieden. Das Ambiente allein haut einen einfach nur um, wahnsinn !Gerade abends sitzt es sich dort sehr gemütlich, umgeben von unzähligen Kerzen auf den Mauern die für eine sehr urige Stimmung sorgen.Das Essen schmeckt super und auf extra Wünsche wird auch eingegangen.Die Karte könnte allerdings mehr Abwechslung enthalten ( als Dessert-Liebhaber hätte ich gerne eine größere Auswahl an Nachspeisen ;) ) Dennoch bekommt man für einen kleinen Preis eine sehr deftige großzügige Portion an Essen ! :))))( Vielleicht deshalb die kleine Auswahl an Desserts ??? )Da wir jetzt schon mehrmals dort Essen waren, hatten wir auch verschiedene Kellnerinnen, genau genommen zwei ( mehr hat das Restaurant anscheinend nicht ) Engel und Teufel könnte man sie auch nennen. Die eine sehr zuvorkommend und liebenswert, die andere stets immer höflich jedoch teilweise unfreundlich, ab und zu lässt sie sich jedoch trotzdem zu einem kleinen kurzen Lächeln hinreißen. Immerhin etwas. Unser letzter Besuch war erst vor kurzem an einem Wochenende, den ABend mit ein paar gemütlichen Drinks nach dem Essen ausklingen lassen, ging leider gar nicht, da wir der Kellnerin wohl im Wege standen für einen frühen Feierabend ! Hoffentlich hat sie beim nächsten Besuch nichts Privates vor !!Wir können die Schmiede für ein gemütliches Abendessen nur weiter empfehlen ! Aber für ein paar Drinks am Wochenende, sollte man sich vielleicht doch eher eine andere Location in Rathenow suchen. Schade !Simone und UweRathenow, April 2016"
