"Everyone eats here for the views. The outdoor terrace has spectacular views, and is reasonably shaded from the sun. Not so pleasant in the rain or out of season. The staff were very efficient and pleasant, seemed to generally be really nice people rather than paid to be nice. The food is acceptable simple fare, don't expect anything fancy here. I had the entrecote with frites, a restaurant staple and the meal was large, lots of lettuce and a nice piece of steak. No sauces on offer on the steak, no sauces with the frites and very limited drizzle of dressing on the lettuce. Everything was perfectly edible and the house wine drinkable. What more can you ask for. Meal cost about 25 € each with a 50 cl carafe of wine and a coffee afterwards, no starter or dessert. You come here for the views not the meal."

Don't expect a fine dining experience. It's just a great place to go for a casual and good dinner, reasonably priced. The outdoor patio is great and the service friendly; the kind of cafe/restaurant and atmosphere you can find only in Europe!

Whilst traipsing around the surrounds of Albi we chanced upon Roc Cafe. What a find. The menu was delivered verbally by the owner, and as we discovered it was a menu of the day. Salad or cold meat for starters followed by roast pork snd chips, apple pie, cheese and coffee. 13 euros what a bargin.

the bad and I came here for lunch. the personal has placed us on a table outside and handed us the menu cards. they give them the time to order and tell them their specificities. we enjoyed the deorage much and that was eating. there we are also a few locals present and they gave their compliment to the cook. we enjoyed it very much and we will come back when we visit this place again. Because the #1 restaurant was fully booked, we ate here and the meal was fine. Nothing to rave about and we wouldn't seek it out but good portions at prices that seem a little high for quality / cafe decor. Cassoulet was very nice as was the cheese plate. Owner makes an effort to circulate and greet the guests, and thank them for coming which is nice.Overall, if you're there and want a quick cafe bite, this is your place.

We only stopped here for a coffee as it was 11am. It's a beautiful setting. My son was hungry as he's not eaten breakfast. When I asked if they were serving any croissants etc the charming waitress said sorry but directed me to the Boulangerie a 100m down the road - and of course I could go and buy some and eat them there. She looked genuinely surprised that I asked. The staff were tucking into steak and frites before they started work and it looked fantastic. A place I hope to return to and have a very leisurely lunch, watching the beautiful panoramic view.

"Au Cabanon has been a favourite for a few years now as a place for us as vegetarians to visit with hardened carnivore friends. Therefore, I am delighted to say that the change of ownership this year has seen the restaurant build on the past with new dishes and wines whilst retaining the best of what went before. It is the best place to eat in Puycelsi and worth detour. The setting that others have described means that this is a place for good weather and, with room for around 25, it is wise to book, particularly in high season. The web site is informative by the way and an easy way to book if, like me, your French collapses on the telephone! They respond very quickly. The menu is short but being a two-person operation, this is a good sign. The dishes are straightforward. But the chef prepares and presents them very well and some that we have had this summer have been exceptional. The menu now changes regularly and this reflects the fact that they use local and seasonal products. There have always been some of Gaillac’s better wines at Au Cabanon and the new owners have further developed this area too. Most are ‘bio’ from small produces and I have enjoyed the delicious Babylon Sunday (a rosé) by Marine Ley (Vignereuse) and a glass of ‘bules’ to start (L’Angelou’ from Jerome Galaup. As I have said, this is a two-person operation so service can sometimes be slow when they are busy but not excessively so. The point is that if there were more staff then the prices would inevitably be higher and the chef will often serve his dishes and is more than happy to discuss them."
