"I was a little concerned when I booked that there might be some reason that Recess was the only restaurant in town that wasn't fully booked on the first Saturday evening after the end of lockdown—but I needn't have worried. The outdoor dining area was surprisingly quiet compared to the all the harbourside bar terraces, but the staff were excellent—kind, attentive and fully masked; the tables were thoroughly cleaned between guests; the cutlery arrived in sealed paper bags; and the server was careful not to touch our plates. Oh, and the food—we had burgers and sticky toffee pudding for dessert—was great. The only possible complaint would be that the hotel-bar prices on the menu make it not the best value to be had in town—but really: both the food and service were good enough that the cost actually seems pretty reasonable."

here for work a lot of time! order room service from this restaurant and its great! had the laughs and avocado toast. laugh nicely cooked and avocado toast very tasty! only a bit too salty for my taste, but still delicious. solid 5/5 for the price!

this beautiful restaurant for lunch with two friends booked before visiting the van gogh exhibition in the feeder street. we all had a delicious salad and enjoyed the beautiful location and large windows with views of the place. would definitely recommend. Ver carta

we had dinner here for the second time Christmas dinner, eating was excellent, served with a beautiful atmosphere. my only criticism would be the coffee, from a machine and not from hand, as made from a coffee shop. but our party of four was very happy. we'll go back next year.

I recently returned to the beautiful Garden Inn for a business lunch for the first time since 2019, and it served as a wonderful reminder of why I enjoy this place. The food was delicious and fresh; I had the superfood salad with salmon, while my guest thoroughly enjoyed the hausburger. The coffee was great, and the staff were warm and friendly. We had to wait nearly an hour for our meal, and the waitstaff got our orders wrong. As a result, we couldn't all eat together. Additionally, we were seated next to a very loud table, even though the rest of the restaurant was quite quiet. When our food finally arrived, it was good, but it still wasn't what I had ordered. I decided to just accept what they brought me this time since I had already waited so long. It's a real shame.

We visited a lovely restaurant that was a bit quiet during our time there. The service was very friendly, but we experienced a lengthy wait of around 3/4 hours for a single course for our group of nine. However, when the food finally arrived, it was great—good portions and truly delicious. I found the prices to be slightly on the higher side (for instance, my steak fries were £17, while I know they would be £13.50 just a 10-minute walk away in Bristol). Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I would definitely consider returning.
