"Perfect little spot for grabbing something different in Oxford. As a vegan, Rick's vegetarian is perfect for lunch breaks as the menu is almost fully vegan. It's vegan smoothies are also well worth trying. They're the best I've had in Oxford. Their falafel wraps rival some of the best on Cowley Road and their mezze platters are gorgeous and affordable. Try the vegan Middle Eastern Breakfast for something really different. I'm geared up to try their vegan pancakes on my next visit."

Friendly service. Quite small but nice and the food was good (tried a mezze). Looks good for vegan brunches and there are lots of (sometimes labeled) vegan options in general. Will definitely be back!

I had the pancakes and falafel burger and both were absolutely delicious! Good value and food made fresh, with a good option of food throughout the day as well as smoothies. Lovely owners and employees and a relaxed atmosphere.

The food was amazing, so delicious. Their fries are perfect! I had loads of food, way too much, so it felt quite wasteful. But maybe that's just a personal thing, if you're really hungry it's great! The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was ready really quick.

I had the vegan breakfast here and it was one of the best vegan “Fry-up” species breakfast I had presented with a lot of variety and beautiful. they also do really nice smoothies and the staff are friendly and helpful. would definitely like to come back and try their other options.

Really yummy food and such a huge variety from soups to full English breakfasts to pancakes and smoothies. Perfect couple spot as super cosy (especially on a rainy day) for a quick brunch. Only downsides are it's quite expensive and the full English breakfast is not particularly big and doesn't fill you up. Would have to order several dishes but this sadly gets quite costly.

rick’s is the best food I had in oxford. would especially recommend the portabello and halloumi burger. in general they can order halloumi or even burger I would ask them. he mentioned today that almost all the food is homemade, even the bases like the hommous, which checks how it tastes. would recommend, vegetarian or vegan try it out. updated by previous review on 2019-06-23

wow, this place makes good breakfast! also very cheap prices for oxford. because once the name positiw is misleading – the caffe is actually mainly vegan. the only part is the annoying perky waitress, who clearly did not surpass a number of customers a bit (we are in england, it is the morning, people may not be asked how they are.) but that was a few months ago, so maybe the dinge have changed.

Hidden away a short stroll outside of Oxford's bustling city centre lies a veggie eatery definitely worth a visit! We sought refuge here after an extensive walk through town to get some lunch, and I'm very happy we did. Out of the many promising vegan options, we selected mezze and berry pancakes a great choice, as it catered to all tastes and was delicious. The cafe itself is a bit small and doesn't have a bathroom, but the food more than makes up for it.

"I've been going to Oxford for 3 years now and in that time to be frank struggled to find a decent go to restaurant. I can now say with delight i've found my destination. I present SPICED ROOTS a little caribbean culinary gem. The fresh perfectly cooked food is absolutely delicious and gives off that home cooked by mummy vibe and is beautifully presented. The chilli and garlic prawns had my eyes closed Mark Weins style (if you know you know) so juicy with an incredible depth of flavour, the Trini doubles not only were seasoned to perfection they left you wanting more and the Jerk chicken spring rolls were an absolute triumph. For mains we had the ackee and callaloo Jerk Tempah (vegetarian) and the Jerk chicken. Both came with rice peas, plaintain and salad. Not only were the portions huge the flavours of both dishes were just mind blowingly delicious. Then we embarked on dessert and had the beautiful spiced rum cake and a selection of 3 home made ice creams namely Coconut, Guinness and the old Caribbean favourite Rum and Raisin, all recommended by the owner. It's at this point I feel compelled to speak about the rum raisin ice cream. I've eaten this ice cream on numerous occasions at numerous locations in Jamaica over my many years and I tell you no word of a lie this was hands down the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted, it literally left us speechless. So to summarise, this place has great food, great music, great service and a wonderfully charming owner who's totally invested in serving great, incredibly tasty, authentic Caribbean food clearly prepared with love. What more could you ask for. Fair to say it was meant to be. Uncle Jay."
