"Winterhude is one of Hamburg's most charming, elegant, and simply delightful neighborhoods, especially during the long days of summer. The choice of restaurants is plentiful along with winebars, cafes etc. Ristorante Salentino has all the charm of a fine, neighborhood eatery. One sensed the conviviality...that comes with happy and regular patrons on entering the restaurant. The decor is simple but this adds to the pleasant atmosphere. I must admit that what drew my wife and I to the restaurant was the offer of a Rosso di Montalcino from Casanova di Neri, our favorite Brunello vineyard in Tuscany; that and its location down the street from where we were staying. We were disappointed that the wine was not to be had; the waitress suggested a Nippozano Chianti Classico Riserva, which turned out to be more than acceptable and was a nice accompaniment to our meal. I selected the Filetto alla griglia: I asked for the meat to be done rare and was rewarded with a perfectly cooked steak accompanied by delicious vegetables and potatos served in a brown sauce which happily did not overwhelm the meat. My wife chose lamb with rosemary also rare equally delicious. We didn't have desert or coffee as the main courses were more than sufficient. Our bill was Eu81, not bad for this neighborhood and I think we will go back."

Klein aber fein! Very cute little Italian restaurant right off of Mühlenkamp. The service, food and wine were all very good. Nothing to complain about here!...

We came late and there was a place for 2, we didn't make a reservation so we're lucky! The food was very good. For me the zuppa di pesce and the carpaccio with truffle as main dish . Everything was possible ; i asked for...some grilled vegetables, this was not on the menu, and this was no problem. My boyfriend prefers his dish with an other pasta what also was possible! Piero was very kind and make our evening complete!! Ver carta

my wife and looked for a beautiful Italian place and rode into this beautiful little gem running from a very nice Italian couple. the place is very small with a large quiet and romantic atmosphere. we both took the tomaten soup (5,5 €, which was...lovely and was clear that it was not pre-made and cooked here. for the net we took truffle spaghetti (16.5€ and ravioli with spinat (11.5 €). both dishes were fantastic, fresh and only in the right proportions. the service was absolutely excellent and the waitress (which also the owner took the time to translate the entire menu for us. if they are looking for a romantic Italian restaurant, this is the place to go!

after some time we were once again in the salentino and we were surprised. the table order has worked, directly on the window - very nice. family operation in the best sense, so very personal and friendly. menu, but still very sufficient and for everyone there is something. weinkarte is very good. we chose a sauvignon blanc from the friaul - good choice. As a starter we had a fried Italian sausage with salate and parmesan as well as a mixed salate. main dishes were pasta with leber and mixed fish plate with pasta (instead of vegetables, special request). all the dishes were good, with the fish the thunfish was a bit dry and the liver paste was missing to season it, so rather a little fade. fo...

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
