Roads End Coffee Shop

Very bad coffee, threw two cups away. No idea about the rest of the food drink on offer though.

Had a couple of toasties and a tea while stopping by for the views. Decent toastie. Just a simple shop with a gift store next door

Wasn't the best coffee, hot chocolate was the best though. Indoor seating is very dull and dark, if the weather is good the few benched outdoor would be the best place to sitdown. Ver carta

We popped in to this quaint little cafe at the beginning of November, the lady was very friendly very accommodating (we were the large party of 8)! Delicious soups and sandwiches!! My niece, especially enjoyed her rocky road chocolate bar! Highly recommend!

We were in dire need of sustenance, holding onto the only two apples we had as we approached a state of desperation. Suddenly, through the fog, we spotted this remarkable restaurant and its frequently overlooked Lentil Soup. We were relieved to find Roads End – our saviors!

Nice staff but that is pretty much all I can say. I walked in and have an overwhelming feel of depression. The place is so outdated and dark. When asked do I want take away or to sit in I immediately knew the answer was take away. The coffee was “ok”. If you fancy time travelling to the 1980s for a ok coffee in a dark cafe then this is the place for you! Ver carta

Visited in Jan 2020. Expecting this place to be a ghost town which it was, still great to visit though. Popped into coffee shop for a chicken sandwich, which is exactly what I got. Seriously unimpressed with the effort that went into making it however... Bland, literally some squashed white bread slices and cold chicken..... Looked terrible, and was bland! Not sure what I was expecting, but this is ridiculous.

If this is truly the best of British cuisine, as claimed on the blackboard, I can only imagine how concerning the worst must be. The numerous blackboards give the impression of a wide variety of offerings, but, unfortunately, that isn't the case. The large menu board provides limited insight into what’s actually available, apart from sandwiches and toasties, and it took an eternity to figure out what was inside them. In the end, we chose the toasties, which at least gave us a slight hint of the flavors. As a side note, when we inquired further, the staff simply directed us to the menu. Unfortunately, these toasties were as bland as can be. This will be our last visit to this café in Scotland...

Roads End Cafe is a true gem, especially at this time of year. While traveling the NC500 route, we stopped in John o' Groats looking for a bite to eat. Although the cafe is quite basic, it offers hot toasties, sandwiches, soup, and a selection of small cakes and scones. The woman who served us was delightful—very welcoming and eager to help. She even recommended the haggis and cheese toastie, which I couldn't resist. Since it was a quiet day, the cafe was offering takeaway only, but she kindly allowed us to sit inside, considering the strong winds outside.
