"I went into Rowans a few weeks ago and tried their large Salt beef sandwich, which was very good and good value for money. The bill, with a nice cup of tea came to about £9 if i remember correctly. The Salt beef was very nice not too dry and it came with a decent small side salad and coleslaw, which was also nice. I went back with my girlfriend about a week later and had the same, my girlfriend also had the smaller Salt beef sandwich. I have to say the Salt beef on this occasion was not as nice, not bad but not as fresh as the previous week. I popped in yesterday as i was in Barkingside again this time to try the breakfast, which consisted of a sausage, fried egg bacon, 1 slice of white toast, hash browns and grilled tomatoes. I have to say i was very disappointed with this, the Sausage was just like the ones i remember back in the old days, squidgy and fatty in that old familiar brown tough skin. The fried egg was very greasy as was the bacon, but worst of all was the tomatoes that were just so past there sell by date that they were just mush on the plate. With two cups of white coffee (that were very nice) I felt rather let down. I am quite happy to pay a tenner or more for a good quality breakfast but this was a throw back to the old days in a builders cafe, i really thought i had seen the last of those cheap nasty sausages."
