Royal - Carta

We only spent one night at this hotel while visiting a local pub. We received a warm welcome, and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, but there was a bit too much of it!

We ate here recently with a group of friends. It's a really lovely cosy place! The service was spot on and the food was delicious. We had a real mix bag of dishes and each and every one was perfect. A first time visit but will definitely return!!

Our family really enjoyed the Sunday roast meat and vegetarian options. Perfect after a long walk up kinder scout especially as portions were so generous! Really friendly atmosphere the royal feels like part of the community here and not just for tourists. Ver carta

Such a lovely pub with a great environment. The staff were all lovely, and the food was absolutely stunning. The portion sizes were great, and all the food was cooked perfectly. Me and my partner loved dining there and will come back, it was all fabulous! I especially recommend the pie of the day

I had the cod today and it was easily one of the best fish n chip meals I have had at a restaurant. The fish was cooked to perfection. Beautiful chips, peas tartare sauce. Loved Estrella on tap. The prices were very reasonable. And the service was perfect too! Would very highly recommend and will be back

Overall my stay here was good , nice spacious room, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast, helpful staff. They were not serving food the evening I stayed but happily recommended an alternative eatery nearby and booked it for me. The only downside was the church bells that chime throughout the night, making it difficult to sleep, especially if you have a room at the front of the hotel. Ver carta

After enjoying a pleasant walk in Kinder, we decided to have lunch at The Royal. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. My wife ordered the fish and chips, but the batter was very soggy. I opted for the steak pie, but the pastry was extremely hard. Additionally, the portions for the main courses were very small. We also found the price of one tonic water and one pint of bitter to be quite high at £38, and did not feel like we received good value for the money.

We dined at this restaurant twice over the weekend and both experiences were incredible. They offer options for vegans, vegetarians, and those with gluten sensitivities, and it is clear that these options were well-thought-out rather than being an afterthought like at many other places. The standout dishes were the vegan Sunday dinner and the garlic mushroom starter. They also have a great selection of beers and wines. We will definitely be returning! These were the best vegan meals I have had in a long time.

After a long Sunday walk we often go for a pub lunch. Today we visited the Royal and ordered Sunday beef roast. Service was quick (lot longer for dessert. I'm a fussy eater but this roast has to be the best we have ever had anywhere! Lots of beef and it was so tender. Tried to fit in chocolate tart ...it too was so yummy...and huge! Don't often go back to same place but will definitely revisit the Royal. Staff very pleasant too. If I had to give a negative it's that we booked a table..arrived on time but no table was reserved for us (though other tables had reserved). We were shown to table in back bar in far corner...very dark and miserable until we saw a better table had come free and aske... Ver carta
