"I was there on Wednesday at 22:50 o´clock. As we came in the restaurant, the chef of the kitchen looked at us and without speaking made us more times a guest with the hand that we should go out! Like "It is over, bye!". Actually they should close at 00:00 o´clock but in the restaurant was no people anymore and the personal of the kitchen probably wanted to go home earlier. So we went out without eating. It was a very bad and unfriendly behavior! I was only one time there before and the food wasn‘t good. So I wanted to give them a second chance, but they were extremely unprofessional."

Had to wait 45 minutes for drinks, then after 1,5 hours, our order was still not ready. Total chaos in the beer garden...

The salad was SO good. HUGE portions compared to other restaurants in Europe. Inexpensive for what you get - we ate here twice during our stay it was so good.

Visited here with friends for dinner. We all ordered schnitzel, to which we all enjoyed. Very busy place, didn't wait long for food or drinks, worth a visit to try the food.

We bought a few drinks in the bar and the waiter literally became angry and told us he was not serving our table anymore. We couldn't order anymore.... I don't think I have ever seen that Ver carta

First meal in st Pauli for our family, very simple food a bit like tgi Fridays but German style! All our food was really tasty, huge portions too and very cheap! The beer was delicious too!

Water didn't want to serve us after one of our friends ordered beer from the bar. He told us, that now we don't need him anymore, since we were ordering from the bar instead of him. Very rude service. Would not recommend this to anyone.

We got in to have a few beers, one of the guys went to the bar to order. The waiter got annoyed that we ordered at the bar, and kept pestering us while we had our beers. He took everything from our table and said he didn't serve us, and came back later to tell us various things like "he didn't care" and other stuff. Most unprofessional service in all of reberbahn. Popped in for lunch as they had a reasonable menu, seated ourselves and were ignored for a good 10-15 minutes. We ordered 2 Duckstein beers, 2 different schnitzels and were also given bread. Finished eating and whilst my husband went to the toilet, and I waited to get the waiting staff attention for the bill, I saw a rodent wandering under the table opposite. Eek made my stomach turn and couldn't wait to get out of there!! Avoid!

This is the place to go for guaranteed great cocktails even though they can be strong or blant depending on who is bartending. BUT... Schweinske in Reeperbahn have a serious *rat* - as in rodent - infestation problem. I have visited this place quite a few times after 23:00 when there aren't many customers. Twice we have seen a rat going round the tables, and the two cases were months appart. I would never eat there, we just go for cocktails.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
