"The Scolt Head has the most rude miserable staff of any establishment I've ever been to, and I've lived in Paris. My friend had her birthday there and the staff were so rude to pretty much everyone in the group, it almost seemed like a wind up. I bought a bottle of house white wine at the bar and after I'd paid I realised she'd forgotten to give me wine glasses. Obviously just a mistake, I patiently waited to catch her eye to ask for a glass but she seemed to not see me for some time. After serving others, she finally caught my eye so I asked nicely for a wine glass and she snarled at me like I'd asked for her kidney and angrily banged the glass down on the bar with no apology or acknowledgment. The people I was with were astonished. It was like she hated me yet I'd never met her before in my life.Anyway, there was only one friendly person behind the bar (early on in the evening), and three very surly rude ones. Not worth risking going there again. Definitely don't go for a birthday unless you're a masochist and enjoy being treated like the scum on the scum of the bar person's shoe.Nice decor though."

Came here for a Sunday roast. I had the vegetarian mushroom wellington and my partner had the lamb. We both enjoyed our meals and the overall vibe. The weather was really nice so we were able to comfortably eat in the garden. The sticky toffee pudding was also amazing. It's nice to find a good veg Sunday roast that isn't boring. I believe there was a vegan roast as well. Friendly staff as well and solid beer selection even had multiple non alcoholic beer options.

I had the pork Sunday roast and a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. All in all, the roast was okay. Unfortunately, it's a little bland for my taste. A little salt and pepper helped a long way. What I couldn’t change was the temperature. Upon arrival, my plate was quite cold. I saw the steam coming from my food, so surely the food wouldn’t be cold. The meat and some veggies were warm, but the whole dish quickly became cold. The potatoes were cold and dry, too. I wholeheartedly recommend the sticky toffee pudding. It was very delicious and not too sweet. The plate and the dessert were pleasantly warm. The service was fantastic, all around a pleasant crew.

"A friend and I stumbled on to this neighbourhood restaurant by chance; no research, no booking, no expectations. We were then blown away by the quality of the food: wonderfully fresh fish, beautifully cooked. The service is also exemplary. I've always enjoyed calamari, but this was by far the best I've ever had: truly succulent and juicy. The mussels were almost as good, and the sea bream kept up the standard. The spiced quince with ice cream made a nice change from baclava in a Turkish restaurant (they still threw in some baclava). The owner, Tony, provides excellent recommendations — make sure you take them! He knows what's fresh that morning, and how his wife cooks it. The bill comes hand-written, and Tony forgot to include the wine (obviously I corrected him). I can't remember the last time a restaurant bill made a mistake in the customers' favour! No service charge is included, and it deserves a lot more than the usual 12.5%. This is a wonderful, old-fashioned restaurant, run by a charming old couple, committed to maintaining old-fashioned standards. The food is more than great and the prices more than reasonable. Service is personal, honest and responsive (providing Tony turns his hearing aid on). Tony warns you if anything you wanted was bought in, rather than home-made. Why don't unassuming but wonderful restaurants like this get Michelin stars?"
