Friendly and helpful staff. Quite a varied lunch and breakfast menu. Enough space inside to feel reassure. We had a lunch and then a breakfast another time. Plenty to chose from at good prices.

We stopped for coffee and scone which was one of the nicest I have ever tasted. Cherry and lemon. Excellent value and very friendly service. Would have cost double in Edinburgh. Well-established town to visit and stop for eats

This is a busy spot testifying to its quality and popularity. They have a massive menu choice, service is fast and the food is tasty and good quality. A friendly welcome and service and the food is inexpensive. Number one in Castle Douglas. Ver carta

We had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was beautifully presented and delicious, and the pricing was very reasonable. All of the staff were well-dressed, attentive, and friendly, and the chef looked very professional. We really enjoyed our visit.

One of my favorite dining spots! The service from the waitstaff and owners is always great. The food, freshly cooked and prepared by Chef Colin, is of high quality and standards. The menu is varied and includes fresh desserts and biscuits made on-site. The service is always good, with friendly staff.

He was also tempted by the apple pie which was home made cram full of apples,I went for the plain scone with jam cream, also delicious. Total cost £25.80p,friendliness from staff came for free. When you are in Castle Douglas and are looking for a lovely place for something nice for your lunch then the place that I'm about to review is the place for you, and that place is Scottish pantry located at 184 Castle Douglas. I went to the Scottish Pantry for lunch today and thorougly enjoyed my lunch of a cheese and onion toastie washed down with diet irn bru which I enjoyed today. Other reasons why I like The Scottish Pantry are that the place is clean, the welcome is warm and the staff are friendly. I would recommend this place and would return

I usually try to visit this restaurant once a week because it is always very clean, the staff/owners are friendly and attentive. The food from Chef Colin is fresh and delicious, especially the daily homemade scones which are different and special every day except for Sundays and Mondays when they are closed. There is a great variety on the menu, including lasagna, steak, chicken pie, all served with fresh vegetables. They also have fabulous homemade desserts worth trying. They offer a range of coffee options, including a delicious latte. Overall, this restaurant is the gem of the town.

"Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future."
